This got accepted then ;) Great! Testing it on my localhost right now (well, was before it was accepted here ;)), and it works great. Nothing bad I can immediately see.

This'll make vbgamer step up his game for his paid mod...

Sorry for my bad English.

When I try to set a new article, I can not save the text in the editor. It appears an error message, the content must not be empty. If I want to save the text, I need the editor to switch to the normal bcc mode. In WYSIWYG mode comes the error message.

Is there a feature comparison table where you can see the differences between Lite and Pro versions?

EDIT: Forget it, found it.

LITE Version:
    * Create auctions.
    * Reserve Price.
    * Import data system from old SMF Buy.
    * Unseen and Search functions.
    * Open, Close, Lock, Unlock items.

PRO Version:
    * Create auctions, Buy It Now, Buy It Now or Best Offer.
    * Reserve Price.
    * Upload Images system.
    * Feedback System.
    * Private Message Notifications.
    * SMF Tader integration for feedback management (tested with 1.3.2v).
    * SMF Shop integration (you can set a price for post a new listing, tested with 3.1.5.2v).
    * Import data system from old SMF Buy.
    * Unseen and Search functions.
    * Open, Close, Lock, Unlock items.

I just purchased the pro version and it is quite buggy, which is not really a bad thing. The developer pushes a unseen feature that does not work, you can not use quotes without getting the escape character with it and some other issues. It is a great start but it seems the developer has chosen not to support his product.

Bottom line, if you know SMF and understand how it and mod'ing it works then spend the 13-15 bucks for it and tweak it yourself as it is a great start but do not expect much help from the developer other than telling you how to purchase it which by the way the link is in your profile under subscriptions.

I encountered two problems with SMF Bay Lite.

When editing an item, it shows an error msg:

The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: reserve
/home/forums/public_html/Sources/SMFBay.php 1287

There's this problem with the permissions.

I guess the members aren't suppose to do any bidding after I unchecked the box next to "Place Bids or buy items". However result turned out to be different and they can still bid as usual.

Any advice?

I am using SMF version 1.1.11 and the original default theme.

Thank you.

Hi guys

I have installed smfbay lite on 2.0 rc3 and have permission set to guests can access and only that but tried to bid as a guest and even though that permission not ticked it allowed the bid. Any help in making the permissions work would be great.

Using SMF 1.1.11 Default

I am getting an error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: array_combine() in /hsphere/local/home/arches12/radarspotters.eu/forum/Sources/SMFBay-Subs.php on line 121

Here is the code from line 121
$query_data = array_combine($columns, $data);

Can anybody identify the problem ??

Hay !
I am using  smf 2.0 rc3
I have just installed new smf bay version and I can't put new ad, I get this:The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: reserve

And in error log I get this:

Type of error: Critical:

The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: reserve
Function: smfbay_db_insert

File: /home8/asekonom/public_html/Sources/SMFBay-Subs.php
Line: 115

and so on.

I had older version, and it worked fine, sometimes did not wont to take new bid in first try, so I uninstall that and try this.

Can anybody tell me what to do?

I am getting the following error: Unable to load the 'SMFBay' template.

I am using SMF 1.1.11  ....using a modified theme in the /default  theme directory

I verified that I have the following file:

/Themes/default/SMFBay.template.php

all files, directories, etc are chmod'd to 777 and prettyurls have been turned off

Any suggestions? or can you point me in a direction to where I can start troubleshooting? The error message is very vague.

I find this mod (SMF BAY) to be good apart from having to fill in all fields, there must be a photo uploaded or it wont post the item...
and I can add text in the field unless I pick a colour and then it will alow text

is there away I can change it so not all fields need to be compleated and alow the post.
and also alow black text and not only colour

apart from that it's all good and works good!!!!!!!!!!

kind of a bummer that this isnt being 'supported' or developed anymore.....as i would like to see more things to come along out of this.....

one feature i would love to see is maybe a portal block that shows recent additions to the auction (something like his other mod smf social network)

if anyone could code this, that would be awesome. i really wish i knew how :(

...and i still cant get my message notifications to work :(

that's a good idea m8.
try this
i coppied my smfbay to my webpage editor
removed everything I didn't want in my portal posting
then coppied all the body into my portal HTML box
and posted it. sweet it all works
I can't explain details but if you know how to do that
or someone else who can than give that ago.
Great idea m8

Okay here is a question that is gaining a lot of entertainment value on our board  :P

Why does it say Culo in the deadline for an auction? Translated in Italian it does not seem very appropriate for the auction
Not that big an issue - just curious if anyone knows or can help explain it for our Members that are having quite a bit of fun with  8)

Loaded up the pro version and it works perfect on my site. Some one needs to pick this mod up and keep working on it. Could give SMF store a run for its money. An i'd be willing to contribute funds to see this developed all the way to SMF 2.0 Gold

On a side note this and the shoutbox is my members fav features.

lol, i started using a different theme, that played nicer with the program, so all is well, and i second what jjzx2sr said about contributing funds to keep its development for future SMF upgrades

but i am having another problem, when trying to edit an item it says "error database does not exist"
so i cant edit anything

Did you have the lite version and then load the pro? I had the same problem. I merely deleted any data left over from lite then reinstalled the pro clean. and i have no problems editing anything. Make sure you go in and set it up in the admin panel. Cause i disabled the add expire date and it gave me an error. Basically it likes set up then used. It doesn't likes changes to the admin part of it while you have ads running.

If you get tired of the small SMF bay index you can resize it or have it auto size to your screen you need to edit the values i marked in red.

Located in:

public_html/Themes/default/SMFBay/smfbay.css

Find

smfbay_cat_table
{
   border: 1px solid #808080;
   width: 50%;
   min-width: 400px;
   max-width: 600px;
   margin-left: auto;
   margin-right: auto;

To have it auto fit your screen change it to this.

smfbay_cat_table
{
    border: 1px solid #808080;
    width: 100%;
    min-width: 400px;
    max-width: auto;
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;

Its about that easy.

Also you can mess around in here to customize the look a bit. We be good to note to download a copy of the original file before modding if your new at this.

For instance i dont like the dashed border around the edges of the error, ended and leave feedback messages.

So we go back to:

public_html/Themes/default/SMFBay/smfbay.css

Find:

.smfbay_error
{
   color: red;
   background: #fee;
   font-weight: bold;
   border: 2px dashed red;
   padding: 10px;
   margin: 0 1ex 1ex 1ex;
   text-align: center;
}

And change the dashed to either solid if you want a solid red border or remove the word dashed for no border.

I have the pro version installed and it is working fine except for a few errors.
I have it on rc2,3,4,and five and the same problem occurs.
If I go into the admin of the mod and either activate or de activate the options for auction reserve or buy it now I can post auctions as long as I keep to that formatting... lets say I want auctions with a reserve without the buy it now. Then this is fine but if I have a few auctions up and running and decide to have a buy it now?  then any edit returns a database error specific to that option activated or de activated.
For instance adding a buy it now option returns me a database error of cannot find table buy_it_now.
This is because the table buy_ it_now is a sub table of the items table
The only way around this is to re do another classified using the options chosen.
So I started to look for an edit function in the php files that related to an edit function on the database. Any Ideas.

Ok have spent weeks on and off on this and getting used to the pros and cons..
Firstly there is an error in the php files now being silly I changed it and forgot where i did it and because i was looking for smfbuy_item to change to Items, and there are 50 item lines it is impossible to find it again..
Search in  sources for smfbay.php
Locate
{db_prefix}smfbay_item
And change to
{db_prefix}smfbay_items

there should only be one occurence
The db table is called items not item.

User / admin problems

What you cannot do is go into admin and change any settings in smfbay after someone has placed an advert,,, so what you select must be permanent, however it is possible if you zero every advert for that particular element,,, ie you don't want buy it now,,, then you must zero all buy it now's in each advert then you will not get a db error...
So the initial setup would be all elements.
With all elements you can through the advert use those functions individually without causing a db error.
however those elemenys you do not want to appear must be set to 0, they must contain a numeric value.

Compatible With: 1.1.11, 2.0 RC3

I have the latest pro version (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=375966.0;attach=146513) of this mod that I paid for before it became free and there was no more support.

I can tell you things I think it needs and needs fixing.

1/ Have a board post for a new sale to post in a board of your choice like the calendar does so members know when new listing are added
2/ have a previewer box so members can see last 5 or top 5 listings and a list of category's on the main forum boards
3/ Fix the error with when posting a new item in the body message part with HTML toggle viewed (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia.simplemachinesweb.com%2Fsmf%2Fdefault%2Fimages%2Fbbc%2Ftoggle.gif&hash=8d4176fb384269a9f2664258b6a073d1d47611c3)
[ERROR: An Error Has Occurred! Sorry, but the body cannot be left empty... even when they are all filled in] this happens in html view but not bbc viewed.
4/ in the adding new list option there is a [Image URL] where you can past a link of an image, Add some extra text to it saying [if left empty the Upload Image 1 will be the preview image].
5/ needs a short description text body as well as the full description text body so when viewing listings you just get a short description
of what the item is but then after clicking on the item you then see a full description. At the moment you will see the full description
of the item when just looking at the listings and big description's make it all look ugly.

really need  1/ fixed as members need to know if there is a new item listed
& 3/ because not all members know to click on toggle view to change it back to bbc view before posting there listing

This mod is great and I like it very much but with the above mentioned I found only about 3 out of the 180 members I have
used it as they couldn't fully understand what they were doing wrong if they got the error and also no posting in the boards
to let others know about the new item... without the member who listed the item telling everyone or making his/her own post,
no one would know to have a look at the listings as there is nothing no post to let other members know about it.

If this mod was to start getting support again I would be really happy to see options fixed and or added.

cheers

1/ Have a board post for a new sale to post in a board of your choice like the calendar does so members know when new listing are added

A number next to the menubar (as in the aeva mod or ajax chat mod) may be more ideal instead of a board.

2/ have a previewer box so members can see last 5 or top 5 listings and a list of category's on the main forum boards

Good idea on the preview box.

3/ Fix the error with when posting a new item in the body message part with HTML toggle viewed

Why not get rid of it completely?

5/ needs a short description text body as well as the full description text body so when viewing listings you just get a short description of what the item is but then after clicking on the item you then see a full description. At the moment you will see the full description
of the item when just looking at the listings and big description's make it all look ugly.

Good idea.

Hello, just in case somebody is in the same situation as me, the following is how I managed to get SMF Bay Pro 1.0.6.1 to work on SMF 1.1.15.

Basically I downloaded the attachment SMF_Bay_PRO_1.0.6.1.tar.gz offered generously by MonoTiz (same thread) on 26th of May 2010 12:53:30PM ( http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=375966.20 ).
Uploaded it to Package Manager.
Simulation indicates in my environment, failure to "Execute Modification --- ./Theme/default/index.template.php --- Test failed". Otherwise everything else "Test successful".
I proceeded to install the package.

Manually edit Themes/default/index.template.php
In my situation the top panel tab did not stick for some reason.
Manual Install Instruction from SMF Bay MOD website ( custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=parse ) says to insert something before "// Otherwise, they might want to [logout]...", but I cannot find this string in my index.template.php. This must be where the simulation failed.

Not to worry. The piece of code to insert looks like code for one of the top panel buttons. So I just scrolled to where all the buttons are. For example you can just look for the code for "Home", "Help" or "Search" button which should have code that looks like this (for example, for 'Home' button):

// Show the [home] button.
echo ($current_action=='home' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'home' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '">' , $txt[103] , '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'home' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

Just follow on from there you'll see all your buttons and just stick this next piece of code in to where you want your SMF Bay button to sit. If you want you can even stick it right after the Home button code shown above, but it's totally up to you:
// [SMF_Bay]
if (allowedTo('smfbay_access'))
{
global $modSettings;

echo ($current_action == 'smfbay' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'smfbay' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">';
echo '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=smfbay;sa=home">' . $modSettings['smfbay_label'] . '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'smfbay' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';
}

This instruction should link to Source/SMFBay.php for you if it works.

On my server though things weren't that simple. For some reason even inserting this piece of code (shown above) didn't make the button appear. So I forced it to appear by removing the if(allowedTo, and also shortened the hypertext link. ie. I inserted this following section of code instead of the piece immediately shown above:
// [SMF_Bay]
// if (allowedTo('smfbay_access'))
// {
global $modSettings;

echo ($current_action == 'smfbay' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'smfbay' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">';
echo '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=smfbay;sa=home">SMF Bay</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'smfbay' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';
// }

This time it worked. Clicking on "SMF Bay" brought me to the correct screen. I must have trimmed off a bit of intelligent code but it doesn't bother me as long as the sell & buy function still works. Hope this helps someone overcome their area of difficulty.
Title: Re: SMF Bay
Post by: T3CHN0 on October 09, 2011, 10:04:10 PM
this part of the code can be full as it's simple HTML coding. <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=smfbay;sa=home">' . $modSettings['smfbay_label'] . '</a>
with this part removed ' . $modSettings['smfbay_label'] . ' I would suspect the admin controls to stop working. can you confirm you can still use smfbay admin options.?
I use 2.0.1 and can't test my self. but for others to know as well it would be good if you could let us know.
cheers

It looks like my theme images didn't download or something...apparently they're supposed to go to a /themes/default/smfbay/whatever.png folder but that folder isn't showing up, it's only there as a blank empty file. Weird.

Hi,
in the MOD package you can see a theme dir. In dir folder you can see the SMFBay dir. Copy that in you theme directory.
It should works.

Ok, use an FTP client to copy the folder in your theme dir.

http://www.7-zip.org/ should extract the package.

MonoTiz, could you make SMF mention compatible with 1.x?
Title: Re: SMF Bay
Post by: Motorhed on July 02, 2012, 02:25:40 PM
Why is this made so I can't make Guests SEE the auctions without letting Guests BID?

You can't just have anonymous guests clicking "buy now" on all items... you have no idea who they are...

Having the auctions hidden from guest view is counter-productive too, becuase people on the outside have no idea you even offer the feature...

Is there any way around this catch 22?

I'll have to check and see if Lite is missing any features I want. It's been a while since I first looked, of course. If it's kosher, I guess downgrading is a good idea, thanks.

Ah! I finally figured out how to uninstall this.

Nice Motorhed: This is one of the greatest features SMF could ever have, and it's executed in a way that is perfectly pleasing to the eye and intuitive for users.

Bad Motorhed: This is one of the worst Mods I've successfully installed, because of the bugs involved. Guests should not be able to "Buy it Now" - EVER - and then disabling "Buy it Now" so Guests can look creates a database error when you try to list something... it's a catch 22 that would have easily been avoided with one "if user is Guest, do not show Buy it Now button..." entry in the code.

I will not use the Lite version, as without Feedback, PM notification, etc., the Mod is essentially a shell of its true capability.

Hey guys,

After testing SMF Bay, I've found that the item gets sold at reserve price even if two bidders bid higher than the reserve price.

for example: item price is $1000 with reserve price of $1100,  if a first bidder bids $1500 and second bidder bids $2500 then, the second bidder wins the auction but has to pay only $1100 which is the reserve price, instead of having to pay $2500.

Can anyone explain the reason of such a behavior from SMF Bay ?

Thanks !

I got this mod when it was still something we had to pay for, never got support and about 2 weeks later the modder wrote up
he no longer will support the mod in the SMF boards and gave a new link to where you can find any updates to the mod.

Anyway I wasn't happy, Still got the mod just don't use it anymore, better of using SMF Classifieds (http://www.smfhacks.com/smf-classifieds.php) does so much more
and "VB" supports all his mods, good man. his mods are worth there money.

I don't know if this modder is supporting this mod again in SMF boards as I stopped following it a long time ago.

Thanks for the advice T3CHN0, but the price is ouch !!! I'm sure it's worth it for an active/monetized forum, but that's not an option for me at the moment...it's a new community getting near zero traffic and I'm trying to kick-start it on a budget...once I start getting traffic I'll start looking at the costlier options.

Any ideas ?

Thanks !

The SMF Classifieds mod is much superior to this if you can fit the $79 budget. I tried SMF Bay first in an attempt to save money, and it lacked many features that the classifieds mod has, plus it is still supported by the author and has new features being added often.

Seeing as how the mod does not have an open license, there is no redistribution permitted...   so - I am afraid that linking to or attaching the pro version would not be allowed.
Title: Re: SMF Bay
Post by: Arantor on November 18, 2014, 09:12:55 AM
I seem to recall the original author offering up the pro version for free, which would make linking to it (from wherever it was originally) legit, but not redistribution. (And remember kids, abandonware is not a legal defence)

yup... he did offer the pro version for free (and I have a copy) but the location was on his own site (which has since been disbanded)

hence the issue. :(

it's a very nice start at a function which has a good niche market in certain forums... but never quite got to be bug free before the author left the forum world.

Can You upload this file here as attachment or any shared server? Before You say to me "This is are illegal" just scan Your computer for file like: mp3, avi, jpg or any illegal stuff and pres ctrl + a then next press delete on keyboard. Next step "Empty the Recycle Bin"(To delete all of the files, on the toolbar, click Empty the Recycle Bin, and then click Yes.)

Which part of 'we're not going to upload it' is too difficult for you to understand?

Why wouldn't I have legal MP3s? I have bought things like soundtracks to games where the music comes as MP3 files. As for AVI, I've been known to record my own things before, and taken my own JPGs.

So, again, what point were you badly trying to make?
Title: Re: SMF Bay

Ok... Since you seem to need everything spelled out for you

I will not upload it anywhere. Period... Unless the original author is contacted and says that it can be distributed (and no, I am not going to track him down)

If anyone else did distribute it here, it would be deleted... or if we had evidence that someone was distributing it, they would get banned.

Hello, I bought a copy of your classfied mods.

However there are a couple of things I would want to change and which I was looking therefore into teh Bay mod.

The way the Bay mod calculates tzhe high bid is like on eBay (with proxy bids) and more reasonable for users. Also its image upoading I like and that the bidding form is straight on the items details page. I think the Classifieds mod should adopot those things from the Bay Mod.
Title: Re: SMF Bay
Post by: vbgamer45 on August 19, 2020, 06:42:48 PM
I would need to do understand high bids with proxy bids.

The system auto increments bids based on bid increment to reach the max bid if there are multiple people bidding and a user has a max bid in place.
