SMF4iPhone Theme is a beautiful SMF 2.0 RC2, RC3 and RC4 theme optimized for iPhone and iPod Touch.
It's based on FarFromPerfection's SMF 4 iPhone Theme.

Beautiful design
SMF4iPhone Theme is designed to look just like a native iPhone application, following the iPhone UI guidelines as close as possible to provide the simplest, most easy-to-use way of browsing your forum on the go.

Auto-switch to SMF4iPhone Theme
The theme can be used in conjunction with SMF4iPhone Mod (Link (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2408)). If installed, SMF will use SMF4iPhone Theme if it detects that you're using an iPhone. No need to choose the theme in your layout settings!
The mod is highly configurable and gives the possibility to choose the best theme for every mobile device, even interacting with Curve Mobile, mobile theme, .

Classic mode
Want to view the default theme for your site from an iPhone? Simply tap the "Classic" button. Return to SMF4iPhone Theme with another tap.

Languages
These are the supported languages:
* Dutch (Thanks to Mr. Jinx)
* Dutch-UTF8 (Thanks to Mr. Jinx)
* English
* English-UTF8
* French
* French-UTF8
* German (Thanks to Chili)
* German-UTF8 (Thanks to Chili)
* Italian

* Spanish_ES-UTF8 (Thanks to videoed)

* Swedish-UTF8 (Thanks to Richard Roe)

For SMF 2.0 RC2, RC3 and RC4 Only
SMF4iPhone Theme is for SMF 2.0 RC2, RC3 and RC4 only.

What's new in this version
v1.1   (26/11/2010)

* SMF 2.0 RC4 compatibility.
* Added attachments box (assuming there is at least one attachment) to the end of posts box.
* Added topic title on top of topic's page.
* Added "Go Down" and "Go Up" links in topics.
* Added "unread topics" function. They can viewed for single boards by tapping the icons on the left side of boards and sub-boards titles, or for the entire forum with the left button above online users box.
* Added "mark read" fuction for single boards and entire forum.
* Added new languages: French, German and German-UTF8 (Thanks to Chili), Spanish_ES and Spanish_ES-UTF8 (Thanks to videoed), Swedish and Swedish-UTF8 (Thanks to Richard Roe).
* Fixed UTF-8 chars not converted to their respective HTML entity in some language files.
* Fixed typo errors in Italian translation.
* Fixed typo errors in style.css (instead of "position", there were two "postion").
* Fixed long topic title bug. Now if the topic title is longer than 16 chars it will be cut and followed by three dots (...) so board pages will not get misaligned. 16 is the max amount of chars that can be viewed in 1 line, if all chars are UPPERCASE and followed by the longest "new" button (the french one).
* Fixed avatar showing even if disabled by admin.
* Fixed bottom pages list not showing if not logged in.
* Fixed Classic/Back button. Now it should always work properly.
* Fixed misalignment of "Board | Latest Posts" switcher when translation string of "Latest Posts" was too long.
* Fixed bugs in reCAPTCHA system.
* Fixed non localized strings for reCAPTCHA.
* Fixed "Show Child Boards" button bug.
* Removed all no longer used images.
* Updated search field background image, ON/OFF toggle images and theme preview image, to fit new iPhone 4 / iOS 4 appearance.
* "Search" button and "New" button are now managed by language files.
* Now when browsing the forum as guest, boards and topics will not all show as "new", but already read.

Good to see this theme is finally in the SMF Theme section, congratulations!
Like Calumks said, credits must also go to farfromperfection (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=298258.540;topicseen) because he started this cool theme. Butch has developed a very nice mod to detect iphones and other mobiles, and redirect them to the correct theme.

I've been using this theme for a while now, and it is much better than all those native forum apps which are also availbe on the iphone app store. I have seen one that is very slow and unsecure and you even had to pay for this, some other app is free but only works on default SMF installs. So be far, this theme is the best and fastest for now.

some feedback:
1) in style.css i found 2 errors... instead of "position", there are two "postion"...
2) in the profile of a user, if the email field is long, it goes out of borders...

two questions: in my forum i use avatar 80*80
in smf4iphone avatar is set at 62*62
but the avatars are cut at the borders, not resized...
1) how is possible to resize them?
2) and how is possible to put some more space between the name of a user and the avatar, in the post view?

With simple portal find:

$sportal_version = '2.3.2';

Replace:

    $sportal_version = '2.3.2';

    // Add to this array with the IDs of the theme(s). Example: array(1, 5, 6);

Make sure you add your theme id to the array.

This is the Subs-Portal.php file. This won't let you view the portal, but will disable the portal so it doesn't mess up the SMF4iPhone theme.

thanks!

but actually it doesn't mess up anything, because by default the visualization of the portal is disabled... by the first lines of the file index.template of the theme smf4iphone...

I deleted the second */ and now it's all fine but think it's a problem with the mod.

I was running everything fine until i updated the new mod on page 28 from the one on page 26 in the other thread.

Anyway this seems is in ManageSettings.php twice and they are exactly the same!

function ModSMF4iPhoneSettings($return_config = false)
{
global $txt, $scripturl, $context, $settings, $sc, $modSettings;

$blank = $enabled_themes1 = $enabled_themes2 = $enabled_themes3 = $enabled_default = array();

$blank = array('' => '');

$enabled_themes1 = !empty($modSettings['knownThemes']) ? array_combine(array_merge($blank, explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes'])),array_merge($blank, explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes']))) : array($modSettings['id_theme1']);

$enabled_themes2 = !empty($modSettings['knownThemes']) ? array_combine(array_merge($blank, explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes'])),array_merge($blank, explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes']))) : array($modSettings['id_theme2']);

$enabled_themes3 = !empty($modSettings['knownThemes']) ? array_combine(array_merge($blank, explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes'])),array_merge($blank, explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes']))) : array($modSettings['id_theme3']);

$enabled_default = !empty($modSettings['knownThemes']) ? array_combine(explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes']),explode(',',$modSettings['knownThemes'])) : array($modSettings['id_default_theme']);

$config_vars = array(
array('select', 'id_theme1', $enabled_themes1),
array('large_text', 'phrase1'),
'',
array('select', 'id_theme2', $enabled_themes2),
array('large_text', 'phrase2'),
'',
array('select', 'id_theme3', $enabled_themes3),
array('large_text', 'phrase3'),
'',
array('text', 'failsafe_link'),
'',
array('select', 'id_default_theme', $enabled_default),
'',
array('check', 'iphone_cache_ignore'),
'',
'postinput' => $txt['notestring'],
'',
);

if ($return_config)
return $config_vars;

if (isset($_GET['save']))
{
checkSession();
saveDBSettings($config_vars);
writeLog();
redirectexit('action=admin;area=modsettings;sa=iphone');
}

$context['post_url'] = $scripturl . '?action=admin;area=modsettings;save;sa=iphone';
$context['settings_title'] = $txt['iphone_desc'];

prepareDBSettingContext($config_vars);
}

anyone know how to fix this?

If that is the case then set "theme #1 ID" in the admin panel to 3 and it will work.

In the admin panel it is a pop up list.  Just click on the ID number and you will get a choice of all the active themes.

If there are not active themes then you need to go to:
Themes and Layout -> hemes that the user is able to select: -> [ Show the list of themes ] (and check the themes)

While you are there make sure that "Allow members to select their own themes.' is checked.

Hi guys.
I have this theme and mod installed and all works great!!
Have a lot of members that now frequent my site a lot more now that they can use their iphone :) :) :)

One comment I have been getting though is.. "Where is a link to view recent topics?"
And after looking at it on my own iphone.. I have to ask the same question.

Can anyone tell me how to add a link somewhere so that users can display recent topics / posts?

Not that I'm aware of.  In your 'classic' theme you would need to add a link to get back there I think.

-----------------------

I also have a question of my own however:

Q: I use Simple Portal with my website and one major feature that is chopped from the iPhone theme is the shoutbox.  Is there a way for this theme to work with Simple Portal or is that a question for that mod team?

u mean not only to let it work with Simpleportal, but to have the Shoutbox too?

i'd be happy with simpleportal only, but i think it's nearly impossible... :)

you have set your Recent Posts number to > 0 in your Theme Settings, than a big tab will appear into your forum index :)

as written in the readme.html file included in the package:
Quote *Other Themes*
To add a link to this or another theme type http://www.yoursite.com/smf/index.php?theme=#
Where # is your theme ID.

Or you can modify your default theme with a selection at the bottom of index.template.php next to WAP2. Something like:
<a href="http://www.yoursite.com/smf/index.php?theme=' . $modSettings['id_theme1'] . '>iPhone Theme</a>

ok, these are some things :

1) even if i deactivate "avatar view in messages", they always appear;
2) would be nice and useful to add an option (instead of just clicking over it), to be able to disable (from admin panel) the function that when i touch a message inside a discussion, it starts as a quote for a reply... i think many of us prefer to disable it... anyway, giving an option would be fine...

yes, i saw it... i mean, setting in admin panel that it starts from "off" position...
i saw a lot of friends of mine using this theme and they didn't understand why touching iphone started with quoting...

normal users don't make questions... they just want that everything works in normal way...
for this, an option in admin panel would be nice, to set it off by default...

apart from this: what code of php files i need to modify to set the start position in off?

thanks :)

hi man!
well, mod of sm4iphone was completely rewritten from new by butchs and me, so it has nothing to do with the original mod, and i'm going to improve it too. and theme was fixed, was ported to RC2 and RC3 (where it didnt originally work), was and will be improved.
and we currently give support for both mod and theme. and i obviously gave you proper credits everywhere (theme's download page, theme and mod readme...)
i think that a little donate button has the right to stay there (even if i didnt get any donation atm and i dont expect to get many :P), don't you agree?

I understand farfromperfection's reaction on this 'donation button' totally. He probably did the most work. However, I think Fabius85 put enough effort in this to keep the project alive. If he stops doing this (because of a silly donationbutton), then maybe nobody is going to continue this nice and important theme/mod.

Adding a number > 0 seems to work fine for viewing x number of recent topics, but what would be great if there was an option to view Unread Topics like the WAP2 theme has.

Mod and Theme are installed on SMF 2.0RC3 and working great!

Thanks!

I found a couple of things that you may not be aware of.

First, you say that if you go to classic mode, a tap will bring you back to this theme.  On my Moto Droid, it has a hard time going back to the theme.  It is hit and miss whether the iPhone theme comes up or the classic mode with SimplePortal on the screen.

Second, I allow guest posts.  When I was trying a test post as a guest, I could create the message and enter the verification code, but it would not let me enter a username.  When I would post, it would indicate that no username was provided, but no place to put that in.

Thanks for listening!

It appears to be ok after rebooting the phone.  Once I go into Classic mode I have to reload the page from the Bookmarks to get it to take.  Hitting Home doesn't always do it.  I'm using the default Droid/Google browser as well.

wait.
if you go to "classic mode" a cookie is changed to let you view the forum with a desktop theme you choose.
but you have to add a link somewhere in you desktop theme to switch back to smf4iphone theme. a link like:
http://www.yoursite.com/forum/index.php?theme=N
where N stands for the ID of smf4iphone theme.
so that the cookie can be turned again from "classic" to "smf4iphone".

you cannot just tap on "back" button, cause the theme is not set again to smf4iphone theme, if doing that.

Yes to both so far as I know. iPhone theme has been being used and auto detect functioning as expected (well, havent had any complaints). Only installed 2 days ago and I'm not absolutely sure that the errors have been happening ever since install.

no matter even if you didnt installed theme or mod, they can work standalone.
it seemes that you have a corrupted or not working
/Themes/iPhone/languages/iPhone.language.YOURLANGUAGE.php

probably these lines are missing:
/* Login */

$txt['iRemember'] = 'Remember';
$txt['iSubmit'] = 'Submit';

my suggest is to extract the file again from the package you downloaded and reupload it again.
if this file was corrupted, it would be a good idea to reupload every file of the theme, as long as some other files could have been corrupted, while you first uploaded them.

Unfortunately no, the lines weren't missing but I've re-uploaded anyway and will keep an eye on the error log. Will have to wait until someone else logs in using iPhone.

Thank you for this theme by the way. Nice.

because this is just a theme for mobile devices, and because it requires every page layout to be rewritten.
rewrite admin panel could be a little hard, and very buggy (cause of many types of elements are used in it).
i think that this is not gonna be implemented, at least for the moment.

and because it requires every page layout to be rewritten. When I typed ?index.php?action=admin it looked great on my DSi.
rewrite admin panel could be a little hard, and very buggy (cause of many types of elements are used in it).
i think that this is not gonna be implemented, at least for the moment.
i really dont know why for you it looked great, cause on my iphone i dont even see left-side menu, and everything doesnt have proper layout and css ???

There is no "Admin" button when logged in as an Administrator...

DSi's screen is wider then iPhone's.
And left side menu ???
I use dropdown menu.

yep, you can use dropdwon menu, or click on the 2 arrows and use left side menu.
you have to consider that before making something public it should work in every possible way, or SMF will not accept it. i cannot just ad an "Admin" button and leave everything "as is"

is there a way to make the header and footer 'menu' always stay at the top/bottom of the screen?

something like this would be amazing:

can someone post an edited version of the theme maybe? :)

well there all the way at the top and bottom and i mean have them 'stuck' there so it looks like an iphone app

(so the header/footer doesn't move but the bit in the middle does)

oh, ok, i understood. well yep that's possible, but as long as the iphone display is quite small, if you keep header and footer on your screen, you'll lose a lot of space for the "forum part" of the page...

Also i've found two problems with this theme:

1. If a profile pic is larger than the space available, only a part of it is shown.

2. Long thread titles go out of their "block", so to speak.

1. which bit do i edit to make them all a certain size? like on the default there you can set them all to 150
2. cool ty

the only bit i can find is this but changing them seems to do nothing:

#profileheader #avatar{

height: 62px;
width: 62px;
-webkit-border-radius: 3px;
background: url(images/noavatar.png) #fff center no-repeat;
border: 1px solid #9f9f9f;
float: left;

}

-webkit-border-radius: 3px;

float: left;

}

Sorry, it wasnt in css, but in the php code.

So, to do what you want to do, you have to open Display.template.php and search for:
echo '<div id="avatar" style="background: url('.str_replace(' ','%20', $message['member']['avatar']['href']).') #fff center no-repeat !important;"></div>';

then replace it with:
echo '<div><img src="'.$message['member']['avatar']['href'].'" height="62" width="62" /></div>';

then, in Profile.template.php search for:
echo ($context['member']['avatar']['href']) ? '
<div id="profileheader">

<div><img src="'.$message['member']['avatar']['href'].'" height="62" width="62" /></div>

<div id="username"><h3>', $context['member']['name'] ,'</h3><h4>', $context['member']['group'] ,'</h4></div>

</div>

and replace it with:
echo '
<div id="profileheader">

<div id="avatar">';
echo ($context['member']['avatar']['href']) ? '<img src="'.$context['member']['avatar']['href'].'" height="62" width="62" />' : '<img src="'.$settings['theme_url'].'/images/noavatar.png" height="62" width="62" />', '
</div>

<div id="username"><h3>', $context['member']['name'] ,'</h3><h4>', $context['member']['group'] ,'</h4></div>

</div>

and here it is on the iphone with this mod:

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg836.imageshack.us%2Fimg836%2F1148%2Fphoto1b.png&hash=0f575d1bfaf2b09c89bbadefd75f43d6703f1420)

also after a little testing this is due to the 'Highslide Image Viewer (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1450)' mod any fix for that?

**EDIT**
I went to a regular web browser and checked all the themes, using the url '/index.php?theme=1', then theme=2, 3, 4 etc until I hit the iphone theme, then set it to that.

From an earlier post I didn't realise it used numbers instead of the actual theme name. As soon as I knew the theme number I could set the theme number correctly. Thanks anyway!

**END EDIT**

Great work!

I've installed the mod and the theme (and uninstalled/reinstalled, in different orders as well) but the where I select the theme # ID I only have either blanks or numbers that I can select (1 to 6, or blank).

Can anyone help?
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fa.imageshack.us%2Fimg413%2F9034%2Fsm44iphoneproblem.png&hash=77b2a37e1e824480f0eb5bbe1e69f07412684250)

Am using 2.0 RC3. I did have the old smf4iphone theme installed, but uninstalled it before reinstalling SMF4iphone (note caps).

Thanks for any help in advance.

the numbers refers to the ids of the themes you have installed on your forum.
you have to select the id of smf4iphone theme

That is ok.  The mod keeps your info for 24 hours so if you make a change after you logged in it will take that time to change.  Also, theme1 phrases contains ipod:
Quotephone|ipod|android|mobile|Safari Mobile|Opera Mini

The theme can be changed manually.

Hi,
I installed this theme and it's mod.

when I surfing using my blackberry, or iphone evrything is recognized well, but the theme is really small and impossible to read, so it's not adapted to the iphone screen..

If from the iphone I point directly to the url specifying the them everything works well..

Where I'm wrong?

I found the prblm.

My Forum is called from a redirect address.
To be more clear the address is www.mydomain.it/Forum

But the forum is called by another url, a third level like,   http://hello.mydomain.it/ that redirect to www.mydomain.it/Forum
This is used for user because so i can separate the principal domain to the rest.

Seams that If I call the hello.mydomain.it I can see the sm4phone them but really really small and compressed,like if the mod is not installed. If I call the www.mydomain.it/Forum evrything works really fine...

It's possible to do something??

this requires things added in the php code, and obviously in the style css. moreover, because of the small space give by a mobile device screen, i suggets you to not implement infos like that. this theme purposal is just to give a fast read&post in an SMF forum, not a "complete" theme like desktop browser's one

the file you're looking for is "Display.template.php" to add user infos you wanna add under the avatar.
"BoardIndex.template.php" is to add "Go down" and "Go up" buttons (these will surely be added in next release of the theme, which i think i'm gonna work on in october)

in index.template.php search for:
<script type="application/x-javascript">

', (isset($_COOKIE['disablequoting'])) ? 'var aquoting = 1;

' : 'var aquoting = 0;

and replace it with:
<script type="application/x-javascript">

fabius, is there a way to set the "citazione" (quote) off as default?
in index.template.php search for:
<script type="application/x-javascript">

', (isset($_COOKIE['disablequoting'])) ? 'var aquoting = 1;

' : 'var aquoting = 0;

and replace it with:
<script type="application/x-javascript">

', (isset($_COOKIE['disablequoting'])) ? 'var aquoting = 0;

' : 'var aquoting = 1;

thanks :)

actually iphone can save files, so it would be useful... :)

just replace the image "/images/logo.jpg" with the one you prefer :)

What would be the easiest way to augment the mod to prevent doing the theme redirect for a certain user or users?  I've tried a couple hacks to skip the iphone_themeSwitch call based on user_info['id'], but I'm guessing that isn't set by the time the check is called.

I'm also seeing the same behavior that someone a couple pages back noted- when you select 'classic', it redirects once- if you select anything on the forum, it bounces back to the smf4iphone theme.

in Load.php search for the iphone mod part and add your "if" condition to exclude the user IDs you want.

btw the if the classic theme doesnt remain set after clicking on the "classic" button, then it is probably because of cookies not enabled.

I had the SMF4iPhone Theme working beautifully and my users loved it, but then I installed the Ultimate Profile mod and it stopped working.  When you try to go to the forum on a mobile device, it shows up as a blank white screen.
What happened?  Has this happened to anybody else?

My website is: www.aquapuppies.com

The forum direct url is:  www.aquapuppies.com/aquapuppies/index.php

Do you think any of the parsing edits to install ultimate profile were the culprit?

Should I have put this in the Mod forum?  You'all can move it if I posted wrong. Sorry about that.  It's a conundrum....it's driving me crazy. Can't find anything amiss to cause this.

Sounds like a Ultimate Profile issue since the mod worked before you installed Ultimate Profile.  Uninstall both mods and reinstall smf4iphone, delete your forum cache and stop using Ultimate Profile.

Obviously that's an easy way to find out for sure if they're related, but I was hoping for another way to find an error.  lol  I already know that.  ;)  It wasn't easy getting UP to work and if I can avoid all that I'd like to.

I did a complete redo yesterday and installed everything one at a time, and now everything is working again, but not the SMFiphone.  Can't figure out what's wrong.  Still a white screen on the iphone when you go to my forum URL.  There's gotta be some coding error somewhere....

Hubby does the programming end, but I believe he first uninstalls, then deletes, then reinstalls one at a time.  That way you're not accidentally overwriting something that may still have some coding left behind.  I'm guessing though that perhaps there's some extra or missing code somewhere...what should we look at first?

Chances are the them ID changed and you or the hubby need to find the new id and enter it in the admin panel.  There are instructions in one of these threads threads.

Yes, we know that too.  We only have two choices.  One is the default, so the other should be the iphone theme.  Any other ideas?

Exactly.  They did.  :)

Still doesn't work though.  I can't give up because I have too many people counting on this theme/mod to work.  Is there some code I can post to see if something looks wrong?  Even though it installed with no errors, there could still be something wrong, correct?  Is there any other mod that it could conflict with?  I know Google Map is finicky with some mods, but we don't have that installed.

I appreciate you trying to help.

If the theme is not loading then you have the wrong theme id.  I actually saw one site with an id of 30 where all the other themes were less than 5. Try this:

http://www.yoursite.com/smf/index.php?theme=X;
where x is 1 and then try x as 2 and keep going up until you find the theme id.  Then enter it in the admin panel.

ie:
http://www.yoursite.com/smf/index.php?theme=1;
http://www.yoursite.com/smf/index.php?theme=2;
...

If the theme is there and not loading then try copying the files directly.  Sometimes they install empty.  make sure they have some girth.

Then you can look at it in phpmyadmin and see if you can get the theme id.  It is under "smf_themes", browse until you find the theme "name".

This is all I got, unless Fabius85 has some ideas.  ::)

I just saw that you replied again, but guess what?  I'm the Wo-MAN!!!  lol

Spent the last few hours trouble-shooting. I went through every page of code to match against the parse (actually found a lot of double, triple, etc...code so cleaned up while I was in there), played with the ID's a bit, and finally found a combo that worked.

Back in BUSINESS!! Woot!

I LOVE this theme and mod!!!! You'all rock!

Thanks for trying to help.   ;D

this is surely not caused by SMF4iPhone Theme and/or Mod as not me nor butchs included anything like that. you'd better take a look at the other plugin you installed, or make a search for *paypal* in the source of all files of your forum ;)

New version of the theme is available now!

Download SMF4iPhone Theme (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2089)

CHANGELOG
v1.1   (26/11/2010)

* SMF 2.0 RC4 compatibility.
* Now when browsing the forum as guest, boards and topics will not all show as "new", but already read.

your forum home (http://www.boudu.org/index.php?action=forum) seems to work fine.
obviously your home page, which is not a forum page, couldnt have the "iphone style" as the template is designed for SMF forum, not for simple portal

PS: it seems from your website that you main language is french.
i need to translate a couple (i mean really a couple! :D) of strings, for a new release of the mod with some other improvements made by butchs in the latest days. but i have no one who can translate them to french for me.

else
$backlink = 'index.php?theme='. $modSettings['theme_guests'];
$backname = $txt['iClassic'];
}

and replace with:

if (!empty($modSettings['id_default_theme']))
$backlink = 'index.php?action=forum;theme=' . $modSettings['id_default_theme'];
else
$backlink = 'index.php?action=forum;theme='. $modSettings['theme_guests'];
$backname = $txt['iClassic'];
}

this will ensure that switching to desktop browser theme will lead to the forum home instead of the portal home page-

in iphone.js

search for:
function go(location){

if (location=='home')
window.location.href='index.php';
else
window.location.href='index.php?action='+location;

}

and replace with:
function go(location){

if (location=='home')
window.location.href='index.php?action=forum';
else
window.location.href='index.php?action='+location;

}

this will make the Index menu button on the bottom left of the page to lead to forum home instead of portal home page.

ps: just sent you a pm with the 2 strings.
pps: thanks for reporting the error in Errors.french.php, i'll fix that :)

I'm in the same boat.  I have uninstalled the old version and installed the newer mod and theme.  I can't get any combination of settings to come up on my Droid.

What information can I give to you for help?
this worked and still works for android. remember that if you use SMF caching system, you need to clear your cache after installing theme+mod!

Is there anyway to increase the amount of characters that the theme displays for each topic?  It is very difficult to navigate the site with such a truncated list.

i seem to be having an issue where when sending a PM through my ipod touch, the PM is deleted from the senders outbox instantly after sending. The recipient still receives the message, but the sender's copy is deleted, this makes conversation view rather useless when certain messages are delete because they were send from a mobile while others are saved because they were sent from a comp.

Also, the PM index doesn't seem right because you can only view the most recent message and cant view older messages. Clicking the message bottom from the bottom menu simply takes you to the newest message.

are these errors or intentional?

I've set the theme to the SMF4iPhone and connected to my site using an Ipad, and Ipod, and a Blackberry and I get no change in the theme.. I have theme one and to set to the Default phrases but changed the theme to the SMF4iPhone on each and Nada nothing and the same on the second and failsafe wap..
what am I doing wrong?

Installed on my RC4 forum and works fine.

Though it maybe could be handy to auto-switch back to the default theme when using a PC.

Only thing is, the Mod is messing up my Default theme, its increasing the font on my default theme making all the font really big.

I wasn't sure what was causing it at first, then i uninstalled the Mod ( Not the theme ) and the it went back to normal.

alright..i am going nuts here...for some reason the pages are not laying out like the example pics and other smf4iphone themes i have checked out....

and i am a little more than confused because a handful of id  and classes are not in the style.css like contentboardsh2, contentboards and a few others which is why i am assuming things aren't quite looking normal...

could you please check out my site and see what i mean http://cbrjunkie.com

i am wondering if the current style.css is incorrect or am i just missing something?

EDIT: nevermind...fixed it...turned out...there is an issue with tinyportal and some how mucking with the css of the theme....someone from tinyportal responded to me about hiding the blocks and came up with an ingenious fix lol...if anyone is having problems using the theme with tinyportal...let me know...i got it workign great now....

hi, i've uploaded both this app and the iphone mod.
i cannot find anywhere in this topic what the settings are supposed to be but theme 1 is mentioned a lot but i think what is needed is a good set of instructions.
i have allowed members to choose their own theme, cleared the cache in both my forum,phone and for the sake of it my laptop.
i have 2 themes installed on my forum, core which is the default theme and smf4iphone.
admin-modification settings-smf4iphone i have the following:
select the theme#1 - (33) smf4iphone
select the theme#2 - (33) smf4iphone
select the theme#3 - (33) smf4iphone
Enter the mobile failsafe: wap
skip cache errors:  tick

i can choose the iphone theme in my profile using both laptop and mobile and it switches fine but that is not what this mod is supposed to do, how do i make it switch auto?

Hi, I know I've not been around for a while, and while I appreciate your editing of my theme I'm not too comfortable with the donation buttons there.
hi man!
well, mod of sm4iphone was completely rewritten from new by butchs and me, so it has nothing to do with the original mod, and i'm going to improve it too. and theme was fixed, was ported to RC2 and RC3 (where it didnt originally work), was and will be improved.
and we currently give support for both mod and theme. and i obviously gave you proper credits everywhere (theme's download page, theme and mod readme...)
i think that a little donate button has the right to stay there (even if i didnt get any donation atm and i dont expect to get many :P), don't you agree?
Looking at the code, this "it was completely rewritten" statement is not true. It is almost all my original code... HTML, PHP, CSS, Javascript except you've added "modify" and "remove" buttons to posts, page numbers in the message index, and have actually broke some things.
Passing this off as something you made entirely yourself is deceitful and I will be complaining to SMF.
Thanks.

I cannot get mine to switch over.  I have done everything possible reading every thread about it. I am only running the SMF curve default and the iphone theme.

The only thing I can think of is under

CONFIGURATION
THEMES AND LAYOUT SETTINGS
MEMBER OPTIONS

only the SMF Default Theme-Curve is listed

Shouldn't the iphone theme be listed also?

This is how I do it with out the mod (too complicated if you ask me)
Quick, dirty, but it always works :)

Sources\Load.php
Find:

// The theme was specified by parameter.
if (!empty($id_theme))
$id_theme = (int) $id_theme;

Add after:

//IPHONE MOD
elseif (strpos($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 'iPhone') !== false || strpos($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 'iPod') || strpos($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 'Android')) $id_theme = 2;

Don't forget to change '$id_theme = 2' to your own iPhone theme number.

Theme seemed to install OK and work.

But cannot get the iPhone(3GS) to switch automatically. Not sure if it is the settings for the mod or a problem with RC5.

Question: Should the mod work when browsing over wifi, or just 3G?

Is there any chance of the author testing for RC5?

Thanks

Anybody get it to work on RC5 as of yet?

Hmm, after that error message the template seems to work very well on my Android phone. Its a bit buggy in Explorer, but works great in FireFox.

Theme seemed to install OK and work.

But cannot get the iPhone(3GS) to switch automatically. Not sure if it is the settings for the mod or a problem with RC5.

Thanks

Chris

Finally installed after manipulate smf rc5 to rc4
Theme not change auto already highlight at SMF4iPhone Mod thread due to error log state "SMF4iPhone Mod failed to connect to DetectFree"

Love the theme, but some of my users have had an issue.  Regardless of settings notifications will not be sent via email.  Furthermore if you are already set to be notified of replies on a thread and then reply in that thread with this theme it will disable notifications for the thread.

Anyone know of an easy way to fix this?

I am seeing that error also with the iOS 5 beta 3. It looks like something simple in the CSS but it's beyond me.

It's not an iOS 5 bug it's an SMF4iPhone bug. However safari (on mac or iOS) used to be very unfussy and will forgive mistakes. However the latest version of webkit is less forgiving.

Basically when you login it displays an image you can click which shows you your unread posts for that board.

<a href="*unreade_href"><img src="image_src"</a>

The img tag never gets closed. to fix just find the </a> tag and replace it with /></a>

Which version are you using? In the latest version, there are also problems with some img tags, but they are not the same as in your post.

I found this one:

<img align="right" src="'. $settings['images_url'] .'/unread.png"</a>

should be:

<img align="right" src="'. $settings['images_url'] .'/unread.png" /></a>

two times in boardindex.

That looks horrible indeed.
Are you sure *all* files from the smf4iphone_theme_v1.1.zip package are extracted in your themes directory (Themes/smf4iphone_theme).
If one of those files is corrupt or missing, things like this could happen.
And are all files in sm4iphone_them accesible (permissions/owner).
Did you try emptying your forum's cache? Admin > Maintenance > Routine > Empty the file cache

Title: Re: SMF4iPhone Theme in 2.0.2, 2.0.3 and 2.0.4
Post by: K-Forum on February 07, 2013, 08:42:35 AM
On 2.0.2. to 2.0.4 this mobile theme doesn't work very well. But I managed to cope at least with some of the problems. So don't take this as *the* solution. Its just an approach...

The theme itself installed without any problem.

I found that the SMF4iPhone-mod didn't work at all. So I kept just the template and fetched myself the "mobile device detect" (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3349) mod from the Mod-Section (Install via package manager. If needed  in "Advanced"-Mode with 2.0.2 emulated).
With the above mod installed, I went to Themes and Layout > Manage and Install and selected this theme as the "Theme to use for mobile devices". Now my phone (Android, Galaxy S2 something) gets detected and the theme gets displayed.

But: I discovered the same display issue ocmdiaz714 described above (see ocmdiaz's screenshots (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=376475.msg3411360#msg3411360) above). When viewed as a guest my forum got nicely displayed. But when logged in, all links got kind of stuffed, they went blue and for some reason I wasn't able to browse the boards.

As freerunnering (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=376475.msg3119742#msg3119742) wrote earlier: The blue links appear because of two unclosed <a>-tags in BoardIndex.template.php.
Search the script for "unread.png" (they come up twice) and change both

'/unread.png"</a>
to
'/unread.png"/></a>

and the board-links will display fine when logged in. Also now you can navigate within your boards.

When logged in I still have issues with the links at the bottom (home, search, personal messages, profile and logout). And the menu-link at the top. None of them directs me to the right page. It seems all they do is reload the actual page I'm on. Unfortunately I haven't found any solution to this yet.

Looks great after K-forum´s fix, but two issues, no admin panel, and i dont see the hidden admin board wich is important error.

Edit was logged in with wrong user, but still the admin panel, and more options when inside profile.

So you have access to your profile?
Did you change something in the code?
Or is it an android-issue? Hard to believe though. I can't get inside my profile because the links in the tabbar (Home, Search, Messages...) don't work. When I click on these buttons, all it does is redirect me to the page I'm already on. And I have to switch to Classic-Theme to logout...

Searched index.template.php for "tabbar" but didn't find any error. What could it be?

It would be so great to get this theme to work with 2.x ...

Yes those buttons work, but it only shows stats about me like IP and email and stuff. I dont see any settings, like looks and layout, and stuff. I can only send PM or email inside there.

Edit, i didnt change anything else then your fix, i just copy paste basicly.

Might work but I wouldn't risk it. This theme is not maintained anymore. I had it running for a while but there where more and more rendering issue's on new mobiles (like ios7).
Search for smf4mobile. More up-to-date.

In case this is of interest to anyone, here's a "link" to a forked/modified version of the SMF4iPhone theme that I've been using on my forum for a number of years (sorry I'm not allowed to post an external link yet):

REMOVED

I recently reworked it a little for iOS 7 and added in a couple of gestures for naviagation and quick reply (quick reply is pretty cool :D).

It's very lightweight really as I've only updated and kept what I've needed over the years, but it does work well for doing the core SMF stuff on a mobile device.

I will say this though, it's far from a "complete" theme, hence why I'm posting this here and not submitting it to the main SMF website. Enjoy!

Details removed, see margarett's post below.

Do you have the author's permission to fork his theme? As it stands right now, you can't really do it...
The theme has no license, which means we have to consider the most restrictive one in place: no fork, no redistribution...
Unless you get author's permission, you (and us) can get into legal problems.

Thanks margarett, I did not know that. I presumed as it was branched from another pre-existing theme that this would be okay, but as you mention, no licence was attached. I'll remove it now.

Thank you for understanding ;)

Please note that you can (and probably should) contact the author for permission to use his work. He will most likely allow you to use it ;)

Okay, permission granted (thanks Fabius :D) and I've popped the iOS.MF theme details up on a new board in the slightly more appropriate Theme Previews section, here: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=522821.0
