hey guys i run a forum with 90k members and send out announcements every week to about 1k of them and have been doing so for a long time but after sending an announcement out to all 90k members a few weeks ago people are no longer getting my emails/announcements... ether there email providers (gmail, hotmail etc) is blocking them or there getting added to there spam list
is my server now 'blacklisted' as a spam server for sending out so many emails? if so how do i go about getting it unblacklisted?
also after checking my servers ip via http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx it says it's not blacklisted???
I'm not sure how up to date that tool is...
Your server might have amount of emails to be sent out per hour or something. Considering you are sending a 1000 once a week and sometimes more, you might have hit a number and the server isn't sending them and delaying the send time so it doesn't overload your server. I think there is a way to contact companies like AOL and gmail to ask if you are black listed.

forgot to say it's a dedicated server so i don't think there is any limits on the server
you can always configure it to send through your email account (eg. gmail)
how do i set it to do that? (and yes i use gmail)
also wont gmail block me if i'm sending 80k emails through there servers?
yes, 80k might be a problem ;). maybe it's time to look for dedicated solution then?
flapjack, google will limit your amount of emails you send out to.
Check with your host, just because its a dedicated server, doesn't mean it doesn't have limits set. Most likely it doesn't, but you never know.
Make sure this setting isn't set:
Administration Center » Mail » Settings

what setting?
it's not server limits we are talking about, it's your provider's limits

Last time I checked, everything regarding the IP was fine. I am out of ideas. Sorry about it. I'll ask someone to look into it if they have anything in their mind.
Edit: Booha! I got another idea. What control panel you use for your server ? Sorry I can't recall if I asked you this in the PM. Please let me know about it.
thank you
erm, just look into the edit. :P

Have a look here: http://doxfer.com/Webmin/SendmailConfiguration
Section: Editing global Sendmail options
Try looking into the limitations on emails. I think there are some default limits set.

hmm...
Firefox can't find the server at www.doxfer.com.
It takes a while to open. Try refreshing. :)
won't load at all for me but thank god for Google cache ;)
anyway after a quick read i'm not to sure about the settings but a few of mine where not default so i changed them back to default as i'm hoping that is why is causing the problem
if that isn't what is causing it then i'll look into changing the settings
thank you for all the help so far :)
Let us know how it goes. :) Good Luck!
