Title: Damaged SMF 2.0 RC2
Post by: pingpongrob on June 14, 2010, 04:15:09 AM
My Forum got hacked, and my laptop with my backup had a hard drive failure, so I have no backup.
My Database is still intact.  I have tried to find the full download for the version SMF 2.0 RC2, but nobody seems to know where it can be downloaded.

My question here is, Is it possible to install RC3 and use the RC2 database.  Or is there an optional file that has to be rub to upgrade the RC2 database to RC3.

Thanks in Advance.

Here you can find the packages for 2.0 RC2.
http://download.simplemachines.org/?archive;version=51

You could install and point at your existing database, it will automatically find the stored info in the database. After reinstalling you can upgrade to RC3.

It's a bugger, those hackers :( My site got hacked back a couple of months due too an obsolete version of Joomla, while my laptop with all backups was stolen in a burglary two weeks before that. Nearly all files were infected, so just like you I had to restart with just the database.

Goodluck!  ;)

Wow, I'd say you had some bad luck there.

I hate hackers, and I have been fortunate enough to not get hacked... yet. :P

Anyways, about your question, I would say that you wouldn't really be able to use a RC2 database with a RC3 one, but I may be wrong. (Feel free to correct me)

An RC2 database with RC3 files would cause a lot of errors. You have to run the upgrade.php with the SQL files to upgrade the RC2 database.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.
