Hmm interesting.. Let me see :)

It's a great mod! thanks!

Hopefully the files I upload at Decashare won't be delete after 30 days like Tinypic often does..

Thanks for the feedback giovannie_1 and no, as of now files will not ever be deleted. In the future though we may start pruning files that haven't been downloaded at least once in the last 20 or so days. We would do a poll first as we are trying to do things by what the community wants and not just what's best for us.

If you need help or have suggestions on how we can improve our site or mods just let us know!

An awesome & Simple integration to smf.  :)
I tested it and it works smooth and fast. Decashare as a mod is a solution For a forum with less space.
But there is no control over it in the admin panel of the forum. No permission and no Control. So i guess one wouldn't be able to keep the trace of the uploaded files. I mean, when i upload something right from my forum to decashare it won't go to my account and there is no way for me to organize or control the files uploaded from my forum to decashare.

Is there a way to make the mod more integrated within the adminstration system of smf?

Pardon me but according to  Mod Authors: Modification Approval Guidelines

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=357757.0#post_mods_nohardcode

you cannot have any hard coded text:

<iframe src="http://www.decashare.com/iframe.php" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" width="500" height="30"> You must have an iframe-compatable browser to view the DecaShare upload form.</iframe>

even if that part will never be seen by anyone, it will be nice to have a $txt variable for that one.

@130860 we will make sure that we fix this in the next update.

The file size is currently 64mb as that is what HostGator has it set to but we are currently working on a brand new theme and uploading system (which is all going good so far) and we will most likely buy a dedicated server and move the limit to something like 500mb if that sounds okay with everyone.

After we get the new website's overall usability to that of the old one we will replace the old one and then start adding the features that were mentioned here like website accounts and multiple uploading. We will also be adding features like file ratings and comments.

I'm sorry if things seem slow but if you message and follow us on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/DecaShare we can get back to you ASAP.

DecaShare Upload has been updated to version 1.1.

Not only have we updated the theme and the structure of the DecaShare site but if you have a DecaShare account and properly set it up for usage on your forum all files upload via the DecaShare modification on your site will be listed in your account.

If you have any comments/suggestions/issues please say so here or on the DecaShare forum. Thanks.

It's for SMF 2.X right now. We install a SMF 1.X forum soon and see if we can get it for that version too.

Out of cursorily why use the older version of SMF?

Hmm, this is awkward. I updated it to the last version of Decashare mod. Now by uploading, it give a result of: [[img ] http://decashare..[/im g] [/ url] instead of a direct link only...

How can I change this?

Are you saying the links it gives you are broken like that or are you asking how you can get direct links instead of links optimized for forums?

Yeah, the extra link helps out the DecaShare site when the pages are indexed but if people have a problem with it we will not hesitate to remove. Also I plan to have those translations out tomorrow (as I will have a couple extra hours to work on DecaShare).

I have not forgotten about them giovannie_1, thank you.

But anyway... i'm glad you got them.
Title: Re: DecaShare Upload
Post by: DecaShare on September 01, 2010, 01:45:04 PM
(face palm), forgive me parvaz. My memory with names is completely horrible.

I will try to have the Italian, Persian, Persian-utf8, and German packages out today. I also plan on making the modification a lot more customizable but to do so I will have to change how the site works (improvements though). I can't think of everything that you guys would like for the modification to have so for now I'll be working on the features already said in this topic like showing upload logs of who uploaded what and when and things such as that. While I am though I would appreciated it if you guys could tell me what else you would like. Thanks

Once again thank you PARVAZ for the translations ;).
Title: Re: DecaShare Upload
Post by: parvaz on September 02, 2010, 06:53:54 AM
NO problem, you're welcome! ;)

I have two basic features to suggest for your site:

1. Privacy options in accounts concerning the files or folders
2. Ability to make folders for each user within the account. this is useful for organizing different type of files, so one can upload a file to a specific folder within his account.

And for your mod i guess a note would be useful which says
- what kind of file extensions are permitted to upload
-total upload volume limit per account
-and maximal file size limit per upload

Also the embeddablity of certain files (audio, video) and producing the embed code for them, after they are uploaded once, or a kind of player which cary the name and is linked to your site would be very nice.

I think there is an issue with the quality of the output.

Uploaded with Decashare: (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.decashare.com%2Fimages%2Fgls9HFDu4-faceyourmanga.jpg&hash=0a0e75e6c02cac97cbe0c40945b976f56a579a78)

Uploaded with Tinypic: (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi52.tinypic.com%2F2iuxdmd.jpg&hash=80a8b75a6688c6e244e41a4b215bb55878d10d09)

It's the same picture, but if you can see the quality of the uploaded file on Deca is increased..

Updated DecaShare Upload to version 1.3. Instead of creating a upload box above everything it will instead use SMF's attachment file boxes. DecaShare can be turned on and off so you can switch from using attachments or off-site uploading. Additional languages are also now included (thanks to parvaz!)!

I recommend you to uninstall previous versions and install 1.3!

P.S. Still working on the other features requested here and close to being finished. Next release I hope to have support for SMF 1.1 (although I'm having a hard time understanding the massive differences between it and SMF 2.0 so if you would like to help please let me know) and logs to show which files were uploaded by which users.

If you have any suggestions please let me know and if you can help with translations please let me know. The "Upload" button only comes with English so if you run a site in with a primary language of Russian and would like the "Upload" button to say whatever "Upload" is in Russian please PM and I will add it to the list of languages for the frame and the modification.

Thanks!

Would it be possible to give us the option to  have 1 single upload box or 2 ?

i use my smf attachment box for uploading a copy of my database  files for my other admins to get a copy  incase im away

now there is only one box (decashare) wont my database  be open to everyone who can look  on your server (as i found it when i searched for it)

????

i think you need to create some kind of  private section in our  accounts on decashare where we can grant access to the public or block them

Yeah, you aren't the only one who doesn't like the idea of replacing the SMF attachments fully. I will be making an update that will allow you to choose how to display the upload form.

As for the private section there is still much to do before adding that in. It will eventually get in there though ;).
For right now though all files are public!

Title: Re: DecaShare Upload
Post by: DecaShare on December 25, 2010, 12:06:56 PM
They are never gone :O!!

Sorry about that, I am transferring DecaShare to a new domain (no it's not globalinfection.net) so that it will have a better name and design and EVERYTHING and in the process of setting up the servers for the new domain all the power in my house blew. The dumb xbox360 was running the whole time even though it wasn't being used so I don't know when it'll be fixed but I have a power cable going from the living room to my room for right now...

Like I said, none of the files are gone and I just set up DecaShare to be back to normal so give it a little while and it should be back to normal.

Expect the NEW (and totally way awesomer) site to come out within a week or two.

Edit: She's back up in all her glory :).

If you need help or have suggestions on how we can improve our site or mods just let us know!

Suggestion: For those sites that have users that are complete noobs and can't follow instructions, I would make the suggestion that when a user uploads a file to decashare that the information that would normally be copied to the clipboard gets automatically posted into the message.  That would cut out the step of having to do it manually, and make it almost fool proof.
