Default is set to notifications by email and I don't know how to change it. New members are complaining about it. Members don't like it. New ones don't know how to remove it, so are complaining about it.
Can we have it set so that email notifications are turned OFF by default? If so how can I do this?

I thought it was off by default...
Admin>Current Theme>Member Options>Configure guest and new user options for this theme>Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.>untick that
Then in the Member options, go to Change current options for all members using this theme. That will get you to reset current members.
Also tell them to go to their profile>Modify Profile>Notifications
They can change their notification settings there.
It is already unticked. That box.
What mods do you have installed?
What notifications are they receiving exactly?
