Title: Simple Portal - SMF 2.0 RC3
Post by: Dan ♠ on September 01, 2010, 09:51:45 AM
Hello, I'm having a problem.
I know that you probably get asked this question loads of times but I am really struggling. I've searched the forums and I can't really find anything.
Anyway I've successfully downloaded the SimplePortal_2.3.2.zip

Now, I was wondering how I can add 'Blocks' and a Home Page E.T.C.
Because when I look at my navigation bar 'Simple Portal' isn't there?

Anyway If you could help me that would be fantastic and would make my day!

In admin panel you should now see a whole new header for Simple Portal.

Configuration > General Settings is your first port of call.

Here the most important option that will affect the way SP works on your forum

Frontpage

or

Integration

If you opt for the Frontpage design, SP will be the 1st page to show when your forum url is loaded.

Integration will be a seamless design that allows you to use portal blocks in your forum but NO portal front page.

For the member view, there is no Simple Portal menu option. If you select Frontpage option then your hierarchy will be Home (Portal)   -  Forum

I don't see the 'Simple Portal' Header that's what I'm asking help for :\

Please use the Core default Theme and in Admin Panel confirm you have no Simple Portal options

Dan, it's highly unlikely that SP didn't install in the default SMF theme and if there is no side panel options it points to other problems you rightly say could be better dealt with by others

have you installed it on your site ?? http://www.runexero.webege.com/

or have you installed it local on a test system?

i notice that your not using the default theme on this site, SP uses the default theme to work properly with out any alterations...

if you are using a different theme then you will more than likely have to alter the Subs.php and the themes index.template.php to get SP to work....

with out seeing what the problem is, its hard to point a finger at the answer.

my website runs SP and SMF 2 RC3 on a modified default theme no problems what so ever..

can you confirm that in your Sources directory you have all the SP files, eg; PortalAdminArticles.php there should be about 10 files all starting with Portal....

that happens sometimes to me when the mod doesn't change some files... try making the installation manually..
that will work, and also, sometimes it doesn't transfer the images, etc so you must do it manually..
hope i helped..
source: that happened to me on many mods >.>
