I have a form used with my forum for sending in reviews. At present I get the form results through by E-mail. This means coying, pasting and formatting the results to a new post.

Is there any way that I can have the results fomatted (as below) and added to a designated board on the forum as a new topic?

Format:
Feild 1: result 1
Feild 2: result 2
Feild 3: result 3
(and so on).

I think it should be possible, but I haven't a clue how to go about it.

Thank in advance.

I was able to accomplish this, actually, a long time ago when I used Invision board.  My method was very messy however and ultimately never successful because of the rudimentary method I used (apostrophes input by the filler-outter ruined the formatting)... takes a bit of time to explain, but I was considering creating a post of my own to ask the same question you did.

If you don't get any responses from people who actually know PHP, I'll elaborate.  In the mean time, I'm interested in your question too :)

If you mean by email... I wouldn't suggest it, personally, but yes, it is possible.  It will be much easier in 1.1, so I suggest you might wish to wait until then.

I'm pretty sure that he means posting the form results directly as a new thread in a designated forum, formatted and all.  Instead of receiving the results as email and then copy and pasting them manually into a new thread.

The formatting is not essential. Even a modification of post.php (think that is the right file) that is opened in a new window, or pop up would be just as good. I wouldnt be looking for anything other than the Text Input to show in the thread (no BB code, no attachments, etc).

Basically, just a form that will create a new thread to a designated forum, thats all. No frills or anything special.

Is there a code similar to the one below that I could try a a test to insert instead of an e-mail addy?

<form method="POST" action="/review.php?id=195&page=/the_welcome.php"

SMF 1.1 makes it a lot easier to use a custom script to create topics - look at the createPost() function.

There seems to be quite a bit of discussion about a Reviews Mod. That would be what I'd be using it for. So for now I'll see what happens there. I was going to have it for submitting reviews to a reviews only forum. Seems best to me to see how that goes first.

This is what I am needing.  Wanting to do a clan signup form that will post a new message  in the recuiting section (http://www.the-rota.com/index.php?board=5.0) of our forums.

Wanting to be able to do a custom form page that would post the info into a specific board (don't want it to look like SMF)  I have a gaming clan and our gameserver (counter-strike) allows you to embed a website when a user types something.

so if they type "/sign up" in the game it would popup a iframe type browser.

they wouldn't be registered members so I would need to turn on guest access but the form would need to be something like:

In Game Alias: [textbox]

First Name: [textbox]

Email Address: [textbox]

Age: [textbox]

XFire Name: [textbox]

Cal Experience: [dropdown "yes" or "no"]

Admin Experience: [dropdown "yes" or "no"]

Favorite Map: [textbox]

Favorite Gun: [textbox]

Why do you want to join the clan: [textbox]
