How do I use FTP? / What is FTP? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=480.0)
Those will probably help you. You will need to ask your host for help with connecting to your server through FTP though, we can't really help you with that because we don't know the user info.
hey my friend, that u gave me the site i read b4. so not much helping.
here the quetion, what is the HOST ? and for the ID PW , and port? Please get me some example :)
Perhaps you should start off by reading something very basic on this, like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosting_services
which mean have to get own host ? just like godaddy and buy a host?
Yes, Simple Machines only provides you with a script you can use on your own website, so you will have to get hosting from somewhere in order to use it.
thanks mate. ehm, last quetion. which hoster u prefer ? i want to host a normal forum, just for chatting and some file sharing. or , give me a link that can choose what i need i really appreciate it ;)
You might want to take a look at Hosts, Hosting and Commercial Services (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=4.0)
thanks for ur link, what u recomemded hoster?
Can't really recommend any particular - But basically, try to avoid oversellers like GoDaddy, Hostgator, 1and1 etc.
With forums, as they grow, that kind of hosts usually end up disappointing you.
wow, u really helped me out. just try to recommend me 1 low cost hosting , plus if my forum are successful running, i'll going to pay u something
To start with, you should be fine with most decent shared hosts, and you will find some very good hosts on the Hosts, Hosting and Commercial Services (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=4.0) -board if you look around. Pehaps if you start a topic over there, you might even get some offers for hosting ;)
bro, u just give me what u think are good. i already post my thread , those people are just ignore me . im waiting ur answer
You should probably wait a while to get some more answers to your other topic, as I will not tell you what host to use. You should decide it yourself, based on what you need. And just like others, I can't recommend anything partly because I don't know what you need.
what if i tell u what i need and u give me some choice?
My forum type are, community and file sharing. any recommended hosting?
What i need are-
1) domain name
2) admin account
3) below $10
4) most people chose
5) maximum bandwidth
6) maximum space
7) etc..
Since you already have a topic about this in hosting board, let's keep it going there, and I'll mark this topic solved.
