Otsikko: Installed without errors but forum screen is total mess!
Kirjoitti: walts - marraskuu 09, 2010, 09:45:42 AP
I installed SMF on a new lampp installation of Apache, following the instructions at http://docs.simplemachines.org/.  I had no errors or problems with the installation, but when I connect to the forum over the network, it is as if there was no theme present.  I can read the text, and the hyperlinks work, but the page is just a plain text rendering.
If I log in to the forum from the server itself, everything seems OK.  I DID chmod all the files named in the instructions to 777!
I'm not sure how to proceed from here.  Help, please!

Walt

No message, just an unformatted forum page.  See attached screen shot

are your Themes/* folder uploaded? try running What is repair_settings.php? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=663.0) to fix your themes ONLY do not touch anything else.

If you installed the forum onto 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1', you cannot go to another computer on your network and try browsing your forum.  You'd need to set the url of your forum to the IP of your computer itself, not the loopback addresses.

Yes, that was the problem.  I was wondering about all the stuff configured as "localhost"!

Thanks :-)
