Youtube Integration Mod (And Custom Gallery)

This MOD allows each user to add his/her YouTube profile into your Forum. You will be able to create and manage a Custom Video Gallery, where you can add, delete and watch the videos. With YIM, you'll have all your videos, all your user's videos and also a Custom Gallery to share them in your Forum!

YIM works with the YouTube API in order to get each user's profile information.

Features:

• Activate/Desactivate YIM
• Activate/Desactivate Custom Video Gallery
• Manage numbers of videos in each page
• Decide who's allowed to add videos into the Video Gallery
• Users Gallery (Index of users who have added their YouTube Profile)
• Activate/Desactivate "Remember: You can add your YouTube profile"
• View User's YouTube channel in their forum Profile

what error do you get...

I do not have any errors (no ajax chat installed) but I also do not get any of my feeds.
nothing showing in error log either.
I do have aeva media installed, is there a chance the auto embed feature of that interferes?

see nothing there that clues me in.
link to my account and profile shows it linked, can press a link and see as it opens the actual you tube page but there is no integration.
also installing it causing, in all themes, index pages of forums categories to be enlarged.
so it has the be something to do with another mod but no erors being tossed.
I will turn on template evaluation (I forgot it was disabled) and see if that shows me any clues.

Nope, the one that comes in the package.

It could be a javascript conflict or an issue with some of both mods. Did you try uninstalling the chat and test YIM?

that was a direct copy of the readme.txt file in thepackage and there are no others there.

edit: I am not one with chat issue, mine is one that gives no errors just does not do anything.
no ajax chat installed on mine.

To add the youtube gallery you have to activate it.

Mmmm... that PHP Handler doesn't allow you to have 777 directories... try changing it to 664 or 775.

I have tried 777, 775, 755 and nothing.
no errors, installs clean, but does not do anything.

the second is what yim gallery shows.

Did you add a video to the video gallery? Because it's not the same to have the profile than have videos in the gallery.

I don't know how to add a video to the gallery, that's what I mean lol. There is no option like "Add Video" or something... in the Admin Panel area for YIM...

exactly, there is no way to do so. my youtube channel does have a video but nothing shows up in smf for this.
one thing I saw was under member groups in the mod settings there was no spot for admins. wonder if this affects it.
its odd, it installed perfectly with no errors, I have no errors in log or in server log itself.

just nothing happens. I am wondering if its server specific then, perhaps php or security setting somewhere.

can someone take screenshots of thier process so we can see where the differences are? the readme pics don't really show enough to troubleshoot.

You have to go to Profile - Youtube's Channel - The video you want to add to the gallery, click on the title, an it'll open the video with the description, tags and etc.

Well, there's a button in the top right that says "Add to gallery". Click it and that's it.

again, that is not an option. if you look at the screenshot I posted you see there is no video showing. only a LINK to the channel.
we cannot do what you are saying needs to be done, this is the issue.

ok i get the part up to here i click add to gallery, i click on it and it takes me to forum index and the video is NOT added to the gallery, what is happenning?

Did the mod installed properly? Try uninstalling, downloading the new package and installing it again.

Does this work together with AEVA 2.04 and PortaMX ?

Can one set the membergroup, which is allowed to add its own Youtube videos ?

So could I set it this way, that only paying members(which are in a different membergroup) can set it up ?

Yes, you can give permissions, just check the group permissions to do it.

Ugh, nevermind the error I posted earlier, had to get rid of the mod as it crashed my custom pages :(

My apologies, after searching the SMF forum for this error I kept getting, I stumbled across a topic saying something about mod_security. I asked my host and they confirmed it was an issue with SMF and mod_security2. The issue has since been resolved and everything is fine.

One suggestion for the next version would be adding a place in the admin panel to add videos to the gallery from links? :D

I'll install the mod in a second. Then go to http://smftools.comlu.com/index.php . It crashes.

I think it has to do with SSI.php being modified.

YIM works fine on my forums, it's just that it crashes my pages.

And I never saw that text before....I absolutely have no idea why you got that. Simple Browser displays a "This program cannot display the page" message, not that....

Yes I'm on free hosting from 000webhost and I'm looking for an alternative as this MySQL server sucks like hell.

Did you check the mod in localhost? If this problem doesn't appear, try using repair_settings.php and it might help.

Regardin fdr77 problem (and maybe also others) please note that some of the files end with several new lines after the "?>" tag.
In particulare these files:

• Subs-youtube.php
  
• yim.english.php
  
• youtube.php
  
• youtube.template.php
  

If these new lines are removed in a way that the last line of the files is ?> then everything will come back to normal. :)

Check my previous answer, it's possible that it solves also your issue.

The page where the user enters their Youtube user name does not confirm when a change has been made nor does it redirect after clicking save.

I had a clean install with no errors, everything seems to be working fine except for this. Im not sure if this is how its suppose to work but some forum users are asking about it.

I just tried to install this mod and now I have a "Internal 500 server error: message.

The host, told me to verify SMF files set to 755, which I have done.

I have manually edited the files are per the instructions. (custom theme Astheme_20 from http://www.smfdesign.net/)

FTP's the files and folders.

I think the zend folder is missing.

I removed the Zend folder trying to remove all instances of the mod to get the site back up and running.

When users put in there you tub name in profile. Somewhere for it to say how to add videos to youtube (tab) gallery. I would have never know how in less I read the threads here.

This is a great mod I know if it had a few tweaks to where it could pull all the videos from forum posts to show up under youtube tab many like myself would pay for it.

I think that adding a couple of lines to the Help Section would help.

1) Be great that some where in the profile after you add a u tube user name it could give a brief explanation on how to add video to utube tab.

2) in same tab or new tab.. heck even a new mod similar like this one. To where when you make a post and can embed a utube video like Aeva does in forum post. you can pull all the videos in a tab like youtube gallery.

Just curious. When I click watch video it takes me to another screen with the author, video etc but no video is playing. Am I missing something here?

Not if there's only one occurrence of them.

This block works fine uploading on adkportal.... or creating a php block on ultimate portal. I didn't test in other portals, but this block don't use an specific code from adkportal or ultimateportal.

mforum, did you install the mod manually or did the package manager work? Are you using 2.0 Gold or a previous release candidate?

I tried to install the mod using the package manager in 2.0 Gold but it won't perform the changes because it's "not compatible with this version" of SMF. I can install the manual way, but thought I'd check if anyone has this mod on a 2.0 Gold forum first.

youtube uses utf-8 char encoding , in my forum i use ISO-8859-7 , so the youtube channels that have titles-descriptions  in different than english language shows like symbols

When I installed version 0.2 it says version 0.1 in the settings page, it shows 0.2 in the package manager page though.. did I install the wrong version or??

By the way I installed this in my 2 forums and it didn't work out in the second one because our decision was to use an image gallery instead, how do I uninstall it? I didn't see [uninstall] button in the package manager, only [delete] button.. will it affect my SMF if I just delete it?

edit: when I try to upload the package again to re-install it, it says the package is already there. I previously installed the 0.2 version I downloaded from the official smf site, it says 0.1 in the mod settings page though.  I cannot uninstall the mod and install it again because there isn't any uninstall button :(

This one fixed my problem also. I was having a problem with Member Awards, when trying to assign an award the username would not appear in the drop down. After I did the fixes to all the files that emanuele suggested it was all fixed.

Mod won't install in 2.0.  Package manager insists it needs ftp access to set permissions in a new subdir in Babylon theme, which is not checked for install, and is unable to connect using correct ftp server, user, pw.  If I create the useless subdir and set permissions manually, same thing happens.  It keeps looping back to the install page.

It won't uninstall!!! Option is missing in package manager :(

Ok got it to uninstall bij changing the file "package-info.xml" to this: <install for="2.0"> (for uninstall)

I'm running RC3.

I have the same error and I change the Zend Dir from 755 to 777 and tried again nothing same error

I love this mod. Is there anyway members could leave comments for videos?

this had me puzzled for a while,
i have been using YIM for a while now , without any problems at all, :D
but after uploading a new video on YouTube, i could not add it to the gallery on the forum,
i kept getting this message "session verification failed, please try logging out and login in again --"
after checking everything i could think of, and here on the smf forum for any tips, and not finding anything of help,
i was at a loss as  to what the problem was,
the only changes i had made recently was having just updated the anti virus software (avg) to the latest version, which contains a module for blocking tracking cookies,
(the more knowledgeable of you have probably guessed where this is leading !)
i checked the settings on this module and found that two cookies were being blocked while on the forum, and on clearing these settings to "unblock all" i was able to upload the new video to the gallery as usual, without getting the error message again, ;D

so if you are using YIM & AVG and are getting the same error, check the settings of your avg tracking cookie blocker,
not cutting edge knowledge i know, but for any less experianced users (like myself) this may be handy to know, and save you some time too.

the mod is working fine for me, but when I want to add some videos to the gallery it wont work even if I change chmod settings to 775, 755 or 664 I keep receiving the following error

You don't have permission to access /smf/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

chmod 777 is crashing my website so that is not an option for me, I'm in hostgator and still migrating from burning board, any help will be appreciated, thank you.

I installed YIM 0.2 and it works fine in the default theme but we only get a default logo in the New Look theme, which we prefer. I've tried copying youtube.png into the theme but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Recently this module stopped working on my forum and returned an error of

After a few hours of investigation I found that the error is probably caused by "...hosted server had disabled the PHP function stream_socket_client."

I asked the hosting provider about this and this was their response

This looks like a very useful mod for my forum, but I have a question about it. Does, or can it potentially, create a big load on your bandwith when many users look at the clips through this mod?

I'm currently still creating and testing my forum, and it has no real members yet. When I'm done I'm planning to go public with it, but still on the free hosting, to see if it catches on. If enough people will join I will get a paid account, but the chicke/egg situation of vourse is that the forum will need to look as shiny and interesting as possible to get people to register, but it also needs to be snappy and quick otherwise people won't bother with my forum either. :-\

So I don't want to slow functionality too much, but want to have nice features. Will this mod kill the speed or not you think??

Not sure whether to post here. Running YIM 0.1 on 2.0.4. Installed fine. Using Fresh Looks theme, that I really need to keep. When I click on 'Youtube Gallery' on top menu bar, says error no videos found in the gallery. Profile/youtube's channel brings me to  You are watching this username channel. Cat McFarlane  ... but when I click on it error is 'This channel is not available at the moment. Please try again later.' at Youtube. Not sure what to do.

I have just added this Mod and it works just like it is supposed to. Thanks! I have a few questions.

1) Could this mod be edited so that when you click on a channel shortcut in the gallery it does not add the user/ bit to the link? This way you could point them to your channel. As it is it takes them to something that does not exist. h ttp://ww w.youtube.com/user/channel/

2)  Could this mod be altered to automatically open the video in YouTube? If I'm promoting a YouTube channel I'd hate to take away from their views, likes or comments at YouTube.

3) Is there a way to organize the gallery? Having the ability to arrange videos in members created list would be great. Having a option to allow member groups permission to do this would be even better. Maybe they could use the tagging system (I'm already using it) to create a list?
