Otsikko: New install lacks smf_api.php (problem?)
Kirjoitti: Francoise - marraskuu 11, 2010, 07:53:11 IP
Hello,

I'm a newcomer to the world of SMF, but am hoping to have a long and loving relationship with it.   :)

To get started, I first tried downloading from this site, and then uploading to my site.  That seemed to go fine.

All the stuff about the MySQL database was making me a little nervous, though, so I then installed (to a different folder, of course) using Fantastico.   (I also upgraded this installation from 1.1.11 to 1.1.12.)

I'm using the forum that Fantastico installed, and it seems to work nicely, but with a couple of oddities.   The most salient one is that the second (Fantastico) installation does not have two files in its directory:  smf_api.php and smf_dbreset.php.

Does anyone know why these two files would be missing?  would it be okay if I just move them from the 'other' directory into the second (Fantastico) one?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Unless I'm mistaken, the installation package should not include either of those files actually. smf_api.php is a tool available separately from http://download.simplemachines.org/?tools and I'm unsure of what smf_dbreset.php is :o

Thank you.  That's very helpful.   So it looks like it would be okay to just add smf_api.php to my installation.  :)

If you need it for something, then yes just adding it there should be fine.
