Greetings all,
Am needing to setup a new Forum with a paid subscription option.
From what I've read here so far, it seems not too well-supported AND quite difficult.
Have I got it wrong?
Hope so. :-)
The documentation for this is quite adequate and there are a quite a few folks here that have done it. I assume your will be doing this on 2.0?

Hi Jim,
Been a while AND an exercise!
1. I use KLOXO on a VPS and it is a VERY fast system and looks great. BUT no docs and no script installer since the last one broke. Can't install easily on it as I'm a non-nerd and need good docs.
2. Setup another option: a shared Server which came with CPanel and Scriptaculous and Fantastico. Scriptaculous is a pretty useless demo-like version (a free one) their real one is I gather very good. Fantastico as always is messy and slow. The version on my package is 1.1.1 .
I did an install anyway and tried the internal updater: took me up to 1.1.12 .
Can't see what to do with it from there.
However, the default install doesn't seem to be working too well. Doing strange things and producing page errors. So, I may need look at a manual install or something.
So there I am up to date:
Nothing working well enough anywhere to proceed too far.
However, I DO need a paid inclusion capability AND one that doesn't need a certified nerd to setup.
After a lot of looking, I really want it to be SMF.
I'll be baaaack
Cheers!
If you need paid subscriptions, you have two choices - a) Seek a mod for 1.1 and support through the mod author, or b) upgrade to 2.0 and have the official supported paid subscriptions feature at your disposal. :)

Hi Lexarma,
Choice 1:
Sole mod authors tend to literally give me nightmares (over the years, they have).
Choice 2:
I've always avoided Beta Versions because there are enough problems with "stable" (hah!) ones.
I've just tried to install and upgrade 1.1.1 via Fantastico - and the instal is snafu !
I might as well look into v.2.0 ..... what have I got to lose??? :-\
Cheers!
Although I'd like to lose the dumb verification demand here - I'm logged in and already posted before! Worse it gets its own verifications wrong if you use audio.
Is there a problem with the captcha really? If there is we would love to hear more feedback on it.
The verification will disappear after some posts, can't remember how many actually - it is done because we have had quite a big problem with spammers here recently..
