Hi, I am currently running 1.1.12, and I'm wondering how easy is it to upgrade from this to 2.0?
I'm not very good at the whole database stuff and my site only has 1 SQL database which is in use with my 1.1.12 forum. Will there be an easy interface upgrade between these after release? (similar to upgrades between 1.1.11 and 1.1.12)?
The interface for upgrading is very similar to the one you used to install SMF, originally.
However, I won't be upgrading, myself, until SMF v2 goes Final. (I'm on v1.1.12, too)
It's scheduled to happen fairly soon.

Hmm, Maybe I should reword what I meant. I have a web host who only allows 1 My SQL database. What I'm wondering, is it possible to upgrade from my already installed 1.1.12 - or do I have to remove the whole forum, delete the database and re-install SMF onto my web server? Because I'm a bit iffy about doing that, I don't intend to upgrade until the release candidate has passed also, but I'm asking this because I am deciding whether to upgrade at all.
No you don't have to delete all your files and you definitely do not have to delete your database. You should back up the database before upgrading, just as a precaution, but other than that it should be left alone.
Read this and see if it makes sense: Upgrading SMF (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=3.0;sort=subject) :)
Thanks for the info.. I hope it all works out fine. I'm planning to dive into 2.0 as soon as it's released straight from what I have now.
