Otsikko: I need help too...
Kirjoitti: papabill - joulukuu 11, 2010, 12:57:25 IP
I've been reading many of the cries for help for the same problem I am having, but nothing matches my situation. Here is my problem:

Could not connect to the database, see error message below.
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

Here are the details of my setup:
Computer: Macintosh G4 AGP Minitower
Processor: 400Mhz PowerPC G4
RAM: 1Gb SDRAM
OS: OS X 10.4.11
HD: ST320011A Quantum Fireball SE6.4A

phpMyAdmin: 2.11.11.1
MySQL: 5.0.87
UNIX socket: /tmp/mysql.sock
SMF version: 1.1.12

(Don't know what else to put for information)

Now, who can help with my problem? Anything would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

/tmp/ is not a good place for your mysql.sock to be located, which may be why php cant find it. you might be best asking for support on an apache/mysql/php forum for more detailed help.

Well, I just took matters into my own hands and moved /tmp/mysql.sock to /var/mysql

Don't know if it's gonna cause any problems, but I'll see.

If anyone has better advise, I'd sure appreciate it.

Does it work after you moved it?  If you google mysql.sock location you will get lots of information on that file.
