Kirjoitti: great nuvi - joulukuu 12, 2010, 04:05:57 AP
Hi to everyone.

I was installing fresh 2.0 rc4 and everything ok but when i am at step 5 or the "Create your account" section of the Smf installer when running install.php I keep on getting this error:

Critical Error!
Cannot connect to the database server with the supplied data.
If you are not sure about what to type in, please contact your host.

If I continue trying this is an error message that showed up next:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/caregiv0/public_html/forums/Sources/Subs.php on line 2668

Can someone help me on this or explain what info should I put in;
Username:
Password:
Password: confirmation
Email:
and on Database password:

I tried everything but still failed.
Help me please.
Thanks

for username and password for your database you need to create one or contact your host for assistance.

I already created a database using cp and directed the forum there. I check the database using phpMyadmin and it was there with tables also. Although I dont have much knowledge about these thing but base on what I can see at the database, it is stored there.

Is there anything that I need to consider for why I am having this error? If I am going to consult my server, what should I ask them then?

Thanks Illori for your reply.

After you create the database you have to create a database user and password.  Then you set the database user permissions which are normally all actions.   Some host running shared servers require a specific naming pattern for the database and the database user.  That is the information that you would need to know from your host.
