Hi
I think I followed all the steps and the end result on screen did say the upgrade was successful but now I have an Internal Server Error for the page the SMF should be on.

FTP says the file exists

what has happened?

you may need to chmod that file to make sure you own it. you can try or ask your host to check. How do I chmod? / what is chmod? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=477.0)

the index.php file is set to 0777 - i just set it to 755 and forum has now appeared......
I'll check out the rest and see if it is working....

Glad you got things back. Normally that file would be CHMOD to 644. If this is solved, please mark it solved by clicking the Mark Topic Solved link at the bottom left.
