Title: [solved] How to connect SMF to my database when switching servers
Post by: athenagwis on December 27, 2010, 09:24:12 PM
So recently I switched server hosts because of limits issues.  I got everything moved to my new host just fine, but at my old host, the place where the database resides (or whatever) setting was localhost, that is different at my new server. I know where to change this when I am logged into my admin panel, problem is my site won't connect to SMF because of this so i cannot log into my admin panel!!  Please tell me there is a way to change this in the files themselves as I have done a lot of formatting to my site and don't want to have to install a whole new forum just for this.

Thanks,
Rachel

Go to the downloads page, grab repair_settings.php, upload it to your forum's main directory, then visit that page in the admin panel. Let's you fix all the DB settings as well as all the file paths.

I know this is a long shot, but you wouldn't happen to know how to do something similar with openx would you?
