Print Page - Error installing mods?

Well It's been happening for a few days now, and whenever I upload a mod to my webserver and every time I click " install mod " it says:

QuoteYou cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

I made the Packages directory writable (777) but still the same error. Any idea on whats going on? I never had this problem with earlier versions of RC

check and make sure backups folder is 777

llama1234560, in the packages folder create a directory called temp and chmode it to 777

How do I chmod? / what is chmod? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=477.0)
