Title: Unable to log-in
Post by: gasman on January 11, 2011, 07:49:27 PM
Hi all

I have SMF 2.0 RC2 with no mods.

Recently many members have been noticing they get logged out at random times, occassionally every 5 minutes regularly. They then have trouble logging back in - the forum won't accept their password until admin gives them a new password. Then they logged out again.

Have tried clearing caches, and seems to be unrelated to OS and browser type.

Last 2 days, even worse - anyone logged out no longer sees the login page. Instead they get an error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ip2range() (previously declared in /home/goodmu/public_html/community/Sources/Subs.php:3752) in /home/goodmu/public_html/community/Sources/ManageSearchEngines.php on line 669

The second line varies from person to person - instead of ManageSearchEngines.php it is often the login.php file.

My plan is to backup and upgrade to RC4.

Any other ideas?

before you upgrade, you should ask your host to check to see if you have been hacked. also there have been several reports of people trying to hack into forum accounts, which results in the user being logged out. this however does not leave them without a usable password.
