I will open the file and it will look good for a second. It looks like typical PHP code and such, and then it blips out and gives me the red error message that it could not understand the character encoding.
This had happened to me once before in a different situation. I was told to zip the file, and then unzip it because it may have been double wrapped. Well, I followed those directions and it actually worked. So I tried the same method this time and no dice. I have no idea what else to try though. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Nobody has any idea what to do here? I just went through all of my backups and found that the Subs.php file was unable to open for every one of them. My forum seems to be functioning well, so it hasn't been debilitating, but it is preventing me from finishing this patch. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
How are you opening them ?
I would recommend using Notepad ++
I'm using the Linux Text Editor.
There are special characters in the Subs.php file. Try opening it in a different editor.
*sigh* I opened it with Bluefish editor and it worked perfectly. I don't know why I didn't try that before. SO STUPIIIIIIIIIDDDDDD!!!!
It's not stupid given how there is special ISO encoded characters in the file (I think the team committed the non encoded version I gave them though)
