lols hi all,
This came to me because some random dude thought that a dotnet/ms sql guy (me) would be GREAT for figuring out wtf is wrong with his attempt to set up this forum software. Genius, right?
Anyway, I found the login page at localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php, tried to login with the creds he gave me, and receive the following pair of errors:
#2002 Cannot log in to the MySQL server (at top of login area)
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed. (at bottom of login area)
I googled around for the controluser business, and was led to peek at the config.inc.php file. In it, there are different values for controluser/pass. I tried logging in with those, but get the same pair of errors.
So my first question is: do I just have a bogus login and need to get a correct id/pw from someone? If so, what do I need to just make my own (no confidence in the people who put this thing on the computer) ? If these errors point to some other issue, what could that other issue be?
My second question is: I was called in to eventually do some kind of mysql db import into this new forum install. Is this a difficult thing? I did a quick search of the forum here, and got quite a few hits on it (yikes)?
Anyhoo, thanks for any tips getting me pointed in the right direction with this @#$#%$ thing!
edit: Oh yah - platform information: win server2008r2, looks site is running in iis.
