Otsikko: Upgrading database where installation is via Fantastico
Kirjoitti: shamit - maaliskuu 04, 2011, 11:36:57 AP
I have an SMF installation done on my wesites Cpanel via Fantastico

I had upgraded the forum to the latest via Fantastico i.e. 1.1.2

and then from within the admin panel of SMF to 1.1.3

I keep getting the following error

It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.13, while your database is at version 1.1.4. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php

I cant seem to locate any upgrade.php

Please help

Hi,
if you have no data in your forum I would suggest reading this and doing a clean install Installing SMF (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=2.0;sort=subject)

Otherwise read Upgrading SMF (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=3.0;sort=subject) and upload the large upgrade package and you will find the upgrade.php file in it.

Several people find issues when install smf with fantastico, a clean install should fix that.

Copying the whole large upgrade package will mean deleting all modifications to the layout etc.

My forum is running 1.1.13 but with this database upgrade error

If I download the large upgrade package  of 1.1.13 and just transfer the upgrade.php and execute it will it do the trick

Hello there.

Yes, running upgrade.php should do the trick.
Notice that we dont suggest installing smf via fantastico or similar softwares, so in the future it would be best to do everything from clean install, upgrade or update packs that can be downloaded from smf.org site.

Regards.

Just running the upgrade.php did not do the trick. I had to copy all the files as originally suggested.

It said I still had some old language / theme files that needed to be updated.

Strangely the problem with the database error disappeared in the middle but reappeared again.

Upgrade has now been run,  the post are now showing, but my page is all messed up.

I am getting a copyright infringement notice and half the menus / links etc are not showing up on the screen. The admin page is practically blank without any links.

The site is  http://forums.indianarchitecture.net/

check that your language files are uploaded correctly, Themes/default/languages.

Just deleted all the files in the languages directory on the server and uploaded afresh from the upgrade package, still no improvement

please run What is repair_settings.php? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=663.0) and only look to change the default language file to "english" and see if that helps any.

Im sorry to see that u had to owervrite all files, but the good thing is that your forum is online and functionall again.

As i suggested, do not use Fantastico installer in the future to prevent this kind of problems.

Regards.
