I am trying to install the forum but get the above but Critical Error but according to the list of requirements it meets all of the requirements!
My ISP is EasyCGI so if anyone is using them and has had success loading the forum, please let me know.
Recommend: PHP 4.1.0 or higher. Have T4.4.8
The following directives are required to be set correctly in php.ini:
-the engine directive must be On. Have
-the magic_quotes_sybase directive must be set to Off. Have
-the session.save_path directive must be set to a valid directory. Have
-the file_uploads directive must be On. Have
-the upload_tmp_dir must be set to a valid directory. Have

-at least 512 kilobytes of storage space in the database, although more is highly recommended. Have

Any ideas?

According to this page- your host is offering mysql version 5.0.27.
http://www.easycgi.com/easycgi/shared-hosting/ (http://www.easycgi.com/easycgi/shared-hosting/) it seems that they have either not given you what you need to run SMF, or there may be an option in your hosting control panel that you must select.
Welcome to SMF. Can you copy and paste the error from the installer so we can see exactly the error you are getting.
