sorry had to tidy it up so we could see just the mods you had installed as mods to install have no factor.

by looking at the vast ammount of mods you have im guessing a conflict in some of the post related mods.

Which ones should I uninstall?
Is it normal to get errors everytime you uininstall something? it seems to be the way it is working now that I upgraded?
I can take out whatever you want me to to fix the issue. Im only hoping the tagging ones and the SEO ones can stay. But if not then I will go bare bones to fix it.

im not sure exactly which ones are causing it but i think it might be the post related ones.

if you uninstall and get an error message plese can we see the error message.

lets hope you dont need to go that far to solve the problem.

also have you used version emulate to install any of these mods

Did you setup the permissions for that board correctly?

Admin > Forum > Boards > (the board that doesn't allow posting new topics) > Permissions

Did anyone else not see all of the missing language strings?

What version did you upgrade from?

What language are you using? (Don't guess, look in your profile and admin panel and be very specific).

At the screenshots I see you are missing LOTS of text.

You sure you have the language COMPLETELY installed, for one thing?
(Still try my previous solution in case)

EDIT: Hijacked by SD.

It looks as though my permissions for all of my boards have been set to default. I have never messed with permisions on this site.
I am looking for this profile in the admin area and cannot find this. Can you be more specific as I am not familiar with this area.

again. To me a profile means a persons area for their personal info. I have no clue what or where to go to see the language.  I have went on the admin panel and searched all over and cannot find a certain area that shows me languages.
If there is a specific area for this please outline directions as I am not familiar with where to go or what you are after.

I have also noticed over 43000 errors are occurring in my error log. I had never looked at this section before until the upgrade and i deleted the log to see if they were from before but then within an hour I had 700. now there is 43000. How normal is that?
Title: Re: Boards not allowing new posts
Post by: SlammedDime on March 15, 2011, 12:56:20 PM
Here's what I would suggest then... FTP to your site, go to Themes/default/languages and remove any file that does not end with '.english.php'  This will leave only the default english language files.  Then we can go from there.

The errors are not normal, but they're happening because your language files are messed up.

ok. I left 2 there that didnt meet your criteria. a index.php and a adseller.english-utf8.php
All the french ones I deleted. Should i delete these as well?
Title: Re: Boards not allowing new posts
Post by: SlammedDime on March 15, 2011, 01:03:11 PM
You can leave both of those... how does your board look now?  Do you see all of the language strings that were missing before?

nope
I will tell you more info that might pertain. I bought the smfhack for the ads called adseller pro and nothing worked right. The dude had to come on my site to ad coding and things to get it to work.

would that have something to do with this? Should I delete all my modifications that are for thread posting? Everytime I uninstall something it runs into errors as well.

Something else that was weird was that on my server stats where ti tells you pages and clicks for the site they went from 5000 pages to 48000 pages in a day and is still counting in the way high numbers. here is a screen shot. Something is really wrong with this thing. It doesnt let me look at stats on the actual site anymore. Even if the box is checked to show daily stats. It doesnt notify me of new members.

I asked SMFhacks to have a look at this thread so he can anser the earlier thing I posted cause I am not sure what had to be adjusted in order for this to take place. I sure hope I can fix this  :( I was so excited to upgrade that damn thing cause of all these cool mods but now I wish I had never done it.

Page views will go up with ad seller pro. Since a tracking pixel is added each time an ad is shown to count the ad view. You can disable ad view tracking/location tracking on ad basis or globally in the ad seller pro settings.

What is this all about in the caching area? It says at the end my server does nto ahve a compatable accelatator. What does that mean?

QuoteImportant! Read this first before enabling these features.

SMF supports caching through the use of accelerators. The currently supported accelerators include:

    * APC
    * eAccelerator
    * Turck MMCache
    * Memcached
    * Zend Platform/Performance Suite (Not Zend Optimizer)
    * XCache

Caching will work best if you have PHP compiled with one of the above optimizers, or have memcache available. If you do not have any optimizer installed SMF will do file based caching.

SMF performs caching at a variety of levels. The higher the level of caching enabled the more CPU time will be spent retrieving cached information. If caching is available on your machine it is recommended that you try caching at level 1 first.

Note that if you use memcached you need to provide the server details in the setting below. This should be entered as a comma separated list as shown in the example below:
"server1,server2,server3:port,server4"

Note that if no port is specified SMF will use port 11211. SMF will attempt to perform rough/random load balancing across the servers.

SMF has not been able to detect a compatible accelerator on your server.
Title: Re: Boards not allowing new posts
Post by: SlammedDime on March 15, 2011, 02:21:26 PM
It just means that SMF can't find a software based cache compiled in with PHP.  It will use file-based caching instead into the /cache directory of your SMF install.  Most shared hosts do not have any caching accelerators installed, this is more common to those who use a VPS or dedicated server.

Im going to attempt this language file replacing thing.

Ok. here is what I did.
I went to your downloads section and went to 'full install' and then went into the language files and copied them to my computer. Now I am about to ftp and copy over all of the english ones to my server. Does this sound right? Should I vae taken the files from another folder or are these the files to copy over to the server public_html/theme/default/languages folder

I would make a copy of your modifications.english.php and .english-utf8.php files before you overwrite them in case mods added those files.
Title: Re: Boards not allowing new posts
Post by: transientangler on March 15, 2011, 04:39:49 PM
ok. I replaced the files. no change.
No how do I go and erase the cache and set settings to language?
Title: Re: Boards not allowing new posts
Post by: vbgamer45 on March 15, 2011, 04:41:52 PM
Admin -> Forum Maintenance -> There should be an option to reset cache there.
Language settings I think are at Admin -> Server Settings

Its set at this
   English    ISO-8859-1    822    en_US

there is also this setting
Help Enable user-selectable language support and it has a click box. Should it be clicked?
everything was defaulted. And nothing has changed?

Is there another area of this theme That I should replace the files for? Cause this didnt change anything :(
oddly enough it now shows my daily statistics. ha. But it still doesnt allow me to post new posts in most of the boards.

By post new topics Do you mean you are missing the text? Or you get an error when you try to post? Also post any related errors from your forum's error log
Title: Re: Boards not allowing new posts
Post by: transientangler on March 15, 2011, 05:13:10 PM
I mean the area where the buttons normally are are missing completely. If you look back in this thread you can see the two screen shots of an example board I screen captured.
I started to uninstall things and here is another error that occured in this uninstall of "New Topic in Seperate Color"
To save you looking back I attached the top board and the bottom board pics with the areas missing.
Title: Re: Boards not allowing new posts
Post by: SlammedDime on March 15, 2011, 05:20:36 PM
The buttons are there (the small blue blobs), they just don't have any text in them because the languages are still messed up.  Are you using another theme besides the default 'Curve' theme?  Or are any of your boards setup to use a particular theme instead of the site default?  Or have you copied any of your template files from SMF 1.1.12 to SMF 2.0RC5 (this is a big no no, they are completely incompatible)

Not that I am aware of. I used the basic theme before and now the basic theme. I had help with the upgrade. I will ask the guy that helped if this happened as you are suggesting it may have.
Is there a solution to this? Like can I replace a file or two in order to fix this? Im stressing out now.
