Hy all!
I have a problem....
i uploaded smf 2.0 and al that... but when i go to install it it i enter my password of ftp account and other and it says:
Unable to connect to FTP server with this combination of details.
550 Could not change perms on cache: No such file or directory -> cache
If you manually FTP onto your server is there a folder named 'cache' in the root of your SMF directory? Are you sure you uploaded all the files/directories from the downloaded package?
yes that was it thanks i will reply in this folder if i have any more problems ;D
Ok here s a problem !
Critical Error!
The installer has detected another version of SMF already installed with the specified information. If you are trying to upgrade, you should use the upgrader, not the installer.
Otherwise, you may wish to use different information, or create a backup and then delete the data currently in the database.
i press continue and then...

did you have smf installed in this database before you started the installer? if you want to do an UPGRADE please use the large upgrade package instead of the installer.
O ****** xD
i erased the old one what should i do now ??
do you have a backup? if not ask your host if they can restore your database for you, otherwise your out of luck. if you just erased the files, you need to get a copy of your settings.php file put it back in place and upload all the files from the large upgrade package instead.
Always backup up everything be it files and database before doing anything even if you think you don't need to, its always better to spend a few minutes backing up then a few hours/days stressing and trying to recover your site.
There is a big difference between installing and upgrading. When you attempt an install you will overwrite everything. Always have a backup of everything prior to doing any upgrade including your database and all files.
If you have a cpanel host you might be able to restore one of those backups.

The default theme's directory is wrong, please correct it by clicking this text.
Do what SMF is telling you and click the text to resolve this problem. ;)
ha ha nice joke i clicked it says error.tamplate.php not found something like that ...... :/
does that file exist? can the server read the file?
Were you able to resolve this? Sometimes you can correct this by going to your Admin > Configuration > Themes and Layout > Theme Settings. Near the bottom of the page you should see "Attempt to reset all themes". Also make sure all the paths are correct for all your installed themes on that page.
