Otsikko: Step 2 on install.php error.
Kirjoitti: texprrrob - huhtikuu 05, 2011, 08:34:46 IP
So, My host is 000webhost. I downloaded SMF 2.0 RC5. When I got to step 2(Database stuff, username, password, server name, blablablablabla). I entered all the correct info, and it said this:
!!
Critical Error!
Cannot connect to the database server with the supplied data.

If you are not sure about what to type in, please contact your host.
Access denied for user 'a3074591'@'srv40.000webhost.com' (using password: YES)

Now. The weird thing is, the host I entered wasn't srv40.000webhost.com. It was server40.000webhost.com.
Here's some pictures, please review and help.

This shows the errors and text boxes within the SMF installer, and the info from 000webhost.

it uses cPanel?
Try to put it as follows:

If your cPanel username is bob (example) try:

Databasename: bob_databasename
Username: bob_databaseusername

Besides, with cPanel: you will have to create the database first. And the user. And then add the user to the database with ALL privileges. (Just click ALL).
Login to cPanel and click on mySQL databases to get that done :) Just create a db, a user and then add the user to the DB. Then follow the example listed above with the usernames in the SMF installer :)

So the cPanel login details are not the login details for mySQL. Keep that in mind as the general rule.

Thanks. Ends up there was a preset for SMF. So it made it much easier. But thanks anyways.
