Otsikko: Database Backup ok but when uploaded, only half of the forum-entries are there
Kirjoitti: crying22 - huhtikuu 21, 2011, 04:19:43 IP
Hi,

I'm using 1.1.11 SMF and I like it. I want to move my forum and I made a backup of my database with the forum-maintenance-thing, you know what I mean. Seems to be fine.

But when I upload it into PHPMyAdmin on the new Webspace, there are tons of Errors and there are no messages to be seen in the new forum. Then I go and click Forum Maintenance - General Maintenance in the new forum admin panel and go to "Find and repair any errors.". The errors get removed (LOOOTTTSSSS of Errors). But, unfortunately, when I check out the board afterwards, half of the forum-entries are gone, it says last entry has been made june 2010 but this is wrong as my forum has new posts almost every day.

I cannot download the database over PHPMyAdmin, because currently my forum is on a free-space and I have no rights to go there and do anything with the database, so I have to make the backup of the database via the forum-maintenance.

This is driving me insane, I tried all day to get the old database implemented into the new forum (which is on a paid space and I can access PHPMyAdmin of course) but it just won't work (I even tried it with different versions of SMF).

Please help me!  :'(

Sorry for my poor english, I hope you could understand my problem and there will be a solution as soon as possible.

Thank you.

its been my experience that the backup option in the admin panel don't work.
so all you can do is download it again and keep trying till you get the whole thing.

It is sad but true, that after a certain size ( depending on server config, something between 50 and 500 Mb ) the DB backup through the SMF Admin control panel will undoubtly fail everytime.
Usually, if this happens - You are still able to get a full backup through your host provided tools such as phpmyadmin. If and when that'll start failing as well on the long run, there are nice stand alone tools to help you then also, tools like MySQLDumper.
