I am also needing help removing the Simple machines logo.
You install a mod that does just that, funnily enough. ;)
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2144
EDIT: Cancel that. It's been removed. :(
In the theme's index.template.php file, find this:
echo '
<div id="mainframe">
<div class="tborder">
<div class="catbg">
<img class="floatright" id="smflogo" src="' , $settings['images_url'] , '/smflogo.gif" alt="Simple Machines Forum" />
<h1>';
if (empty($settings['header_logo_url']))
echo $context['forum_name_html_safe'];
else
echo '
<img src="', $settings['header_logo_url'], '" alt="', $context['forum_name_html_safe'], '" />';
echo '
</h1>
</div>';
and delete it.
Wich version of SMF are you using?
K@, that mod is deleted from the mod site.
Yeah, I know.
That's why I edited my post. :P
That's for SMF 1.1.13. Code for SMF 2.0 is different.
and according to http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=431133.0 this user is running 1.1.13 not 2.0.
Easiest way that I've found is to simply replace the image with a bank, transparent one, myself. ;)
So how do you remove it from RC2? I got the image removed, but now there is "Simple Machines Forum" showing up.
Thanks
#smflogo,#siteslogan should be in your index.css. Just set them to display: none;
Replacing smflogo.png with a blank is a good suggestion. Then I don't need to worry about themes. Whoever wants it, come grab it, it's blank anyway. Quick and neat without editing any code while maintains good integrity overall.
For someone totally new like me though I had a bit of trouble even finding smflogo.png. Probably not the
easiest way, but just my 2c worth of contribution garylester777 for future similar situations in terms of looking for things:
If you right click on the logo, it will become apparent the logo image is smflogo.png and directory. But suppose it doesn't tell you the directory. This command will tell you where all the copies of smflogo.png are:
find . -name smflogo.pngMy next question was: which file is displaying this logo?
Turns out if you hover the mouse over the logo, it will say "Simple Machines Forum". To me that is saying
Lainaaalt="Simple Machines Forum"
This command will list all files that contain the string
smflogo.png AND the string
alt="SimpleThe last part about cut ensures only file names are displayed
egrep -H -r 'smflogo.png|alt="Simple' html/* | cut -d: -f1(If you ever want to search single quotation mark, just swap with double to enclose)
I've installed some 30 themes, so I get lots and lots of index.template.php listed.
But I am happy to bet 2c the file I need to edit is /Themes/default/index.template.php
You can just replace smflogo.png with any file of your choice, or markout the whole thing
'<!-- <img id="smflogo" src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/smflogo.png" alt="Simple Machines Forum" title="Simple Machines Forum" /> -->' to prevents the logo from showing ;)
Or if using 2.0, 2.0.1 you can place a motto there which removes the smf image anyway.
