i noticed that when i look for new topics posted that some kind of error in sub-topics prevents the sub topic from refreshing.
if you check out http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?action=forum
in aquaponics systems sub topic, the posting in the asia child board is the only thing showing active. most of my members posts are in the hawaii section, and it never shows up as a more recent post.
previously i was able to fix this by deleting the thread, but dont want to continue having to do that.
i have run the find and repair problem but nothing shows up.
thanks!
using 1.13
I think it will be hard to determine "active" without being a member as guests will not have anything in the database as to what is new/old/read/unread/etc. But from your description, the asia child board is showing active and your hawaii child board has more activity that isn't being indicated?
yes, that is correct.
no matter what is posted in that section only the "Aloha Farm - Philippines" topic shows as most recent.
I found the theme you are using. Are you able to connect to your site FTP? I'm curious as to what happens when you delete this file (and I'm guessing at the name):
Themes/blue23/BoardIndex.template.php
I have a theory that something ain't right with that file and by deleting it the default version will take over. There might be some slight display differences as a result. Make sure to download that file to your computer before you delete it though.
sorry for the late response, got sick for a few days...
i renamed the file and made a new post, no change =(
i renamed it BoardIndex.template.phpBAK.. that should have prevented it from loading right?
:bump:

Messages from a subforum of a subforum will not be shown in most recent posts due to performance reasons
its not about messages in subforums, the last post on the parent board isnt updating - its "stuck"
no matter how many posts in any of the subforums, it only shows the one.
It's not stuck that I can see - Try to follow me here
The forum index shows the last post made within the board, or within a childboard of that board.
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?action=forum
Go inside the board http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=3.0
and see there is no posts within that board. So, only child-boards left to show on index.
Check Hawaii http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=12.0
No posts within this board, so nothing to show on Index. Child boards of this Child board do not count on Index anymore.
The same thing applies for all other child boards within "Aquaponic Systems" -board - Except, Asia - which in fact has posts in it to show. http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=14.0 This board has posts in itself, and no childboards,
so this boards posts will show on the forum index.
I hope you understood what I'm trying explain here :P
i follow what you mean, but i had to click along to get your drift, thanks!
i moved that one thread into a sub thread i made in asia, under philipines, so it no longer matches what you described.
posted a test post in the oahu sub thread and it still doesnt update =(
ran forum maintenance tools (check for errors, recount posts, and optimize database), no change.
in the past, i had this problem and tried to move the offending thread. nothing worked until i deleted the thread and remade it, but losing pics and everything else (since it was someone elses post) and now hope to find a not-so-drastic way of fixnig the problem.
I'll check your new layout tomorrow, to see how it is now and what might have changed....

OK, you see Asia is already a Sub-board, so when you add a topic to a sub-board of Asia, it is in a sub-board of a sub-board, and so it should not be counted for on the index, But - since it is still the lates post withing the Asia sub-board, it hasn't disappeared from the index automatically.
The index should update if and when someone makes a new post or a topic in to any of the following boards
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=3.0
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=12.0
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=13.0
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=29.0
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=14.0
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=15.0
http://aquaponicsinparadise.com/APforums/index.php?board=16.0
Feel free to try it out (if you wish, you can first try running the maintanence options "Find and repair any errors." and "Recount all forum totals and statistics." to see if the current mention of the "stuck" post would now disappear from index, as it has been moved to a sub-board of a sub-board. )
thank you for your notes.
do you think i should make everything sub-sub-board or remove the sub-boards to best clear this problem?
I would avoid using sub-sub-boards all together if possible myself, but ultimately it is ofcourse up to you.
