I would like to do this without installing a mod if possible?
I tried this but it did not change anything:
Edit the value of background-color: for the body class (/* The main body of the entire forum. */) in your style.css file
thank you :)
in the index.css file near the top find
/* Set a fontsize that will look the same in all browsers. */
body
{
background: #E9EEF2 url(../images/theme/backdrop.png) repeat-x;
font: 78%/130% "Verdana", "Arial", "Helvetica", sans-serif;
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 15px 0;
}
the #E9EEF2 is the color and the backdrop.png is the background at the very top.
Hope this helps
Actually the site is using 1.1.13 and therefore the file is style.css
Look in your style.css for the body class on line 52
body {
background-color: #E5E5E8;
margin: 0px;
padding: 12px 30px 4px 30px;
}
Change the #E5E5E8 to what evr color you want to use
Sorry tried to help :D

No need to apologise. I really wish people would include the version they're running... prevents assumptions like this...

What color are you trying to change the background to?
I tried a few different ones, none of them worked #696969
It must work as your background has changed color from #E5E5E8 to #646D7E and I can clearly see it has changed color
Now its gone back to the default color, you did have it changed so you are doing it right but if you want attatch your style.css here and i will change the code for you
thank you so much. I could not see any change on my screen using 3 different browsers so I changed it back :)
Ok upload this and then once uploaded just clear your browser cache just incase, press Ctrl and F5 together
thank you :)
so the only thing that changed was this;?
/* The main body of the entire forum. */
body
{
background-color: #696969;
margin: 0px;
padding: 12px 30px 4px 30px;
}
I wonder why it didnt work when I did it
Yeah, all i changed was the actual hex color code, i'm not sure why you didn't see the change when you done it but I viewed your site when you did and I could see you had changed the color
friends, i want to change few colors in curve theme, but i don't know how its made
what should i do, how edit? help me pls..
This is background colour which u can use it for gave background color for your theme #E9EEF2 and this is url of background image
url(../images/theme/backdrop.png) repeat-x. Its extension .png that pick the transparent background color. You can change it in body part of css.
cantona - in future, create a topic of your own when asking for support. But to answer your question, all the containing elements you want to change are within the main_block.png graphic.
antechindia - You can just remove the image call outright if you want a solid colour, no need for transparencies. :P
