Title: SMF and Joomla Themes/Templates
Post by: Kindred on July 26, 2005, 10:09:38 AM
Alright, I have started this new thread because the other one was getting cluttered with comments, questions and irrelevencies.

This thread is specifically to display mambo-smf combined template-themes...
Please do not post comments or questions in this thread, all those should be posted in the thread regarding that theme specifically.

What should be posted in this thread, similar to the one in the graphics & templates board is a LINK to the thread specifically for the combined template-theme, a screenshot (if one exists) and a link to the theme in action.

Attached is a package containing guides to both the SMF templates and CSS file as well as the mambo templating system and CSS file.

Winterloon Combined Template-Theme

Original Theme Authors:
Loon - Blue theme for SMF (by Mystica Misery ([email protected]))
and
AkoWinterportal for Mambo (by Arthur Konze ([email protected]))
Integration modifications by Kindred

The package can be downloaded from My Site (http://www.turtleshellprod.com/test/WinterLoon.zip)

Comments and questions about this theme are HERE (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=43480.msg313830)

NOTE: This theme has not been updated in over a year...  I can pretty much guarantee that it will not work with SMF 1.1 (any version) and the code in the joomla/mambo template is outdated for any bridge after 3.19.

I will be working on a revised release of this sometime this summer (2006)

I actually just completely redid this theme for SMF 1.1RC1, and added in some nifty features, such as the logo and sidebar disappearing while wrapped, but being there when your forum is accessed unwrapped.  See this post, and please post feedback there:

I modified Bloc's Amber theme to be compatible with Joomla and Mambo.  It will look just like normal when unwrapped or stand alone, but wrap it in Joomla or Mambo and it will remove the top logo and the side info boxes, as well as the excess <head> and <body> tags.

Click here for the theme. (http://www.technoadvice.com/component/remository/Download/SMF/Themes/Amber-for-Joomla-and-Mambo/)

And be sure to check the special instructions and see the original theme by clicking here (http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=1418.msg12794#msg12794).

Theme Planetfall RC2

For Joomla!/SMF integration. Based on Rhuk_Planetfall theme.

First of all, thanks to xenovanis (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=profile;u=6985) for the original work on this theme.
- Original Planetfall thread: Theme Planetfall (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=26690.0)

I've simply made some changes to it so that it's more up-to-date with SMF 1.1RC2.
Also fixed some small layout issues here and there.

It also uses the simple black mini buttons by Andrea (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=profile;u=10).

Here is a combo that you can use with little or no modification and looks pretty slick.

BTW, I am using smf 1.1rc2 and joomla 1.0.8

The mambo/joomla template is zonecopper, available here:
http://demo.joomlahacks.com/index.php?jos_change_template=zonecopper
http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,41/func,fileinfo/id,354/ (http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,41/func,fileinfo/id,354/)

and the smf template is called helios_multi.  I use the green theme, but the grey looks nice too

http://themes.simplemachines.org/index.php?lemma=1 (http://themes.simplemachines.org/index.php?lemma=1)

They both have very similar colors and the css works pretty smoothly with the wrapped joomla/smf.

I think it's worth adding a link to the RocketTheme Joomla/SMF template club in this thread:

http://www.rockettheme.com/smf/ (http://www.rockettheme.com/smf/)

It's a Joomla template club by rhuk (the templating legend who does the default joomla templates) that has recently joined up with bloc to create smf templates that fit in perfectly with joomla templates. It's a paid for club but at only $40USD (at time of post) it's well worth it, as you can see for yourselves in the demos:

http://demo.rockettheme.com/smf/ (http://demo.rockettheme.com/smf/)

Tom.

Moderator note: RocketTheme's SMF Club has been discontinued and Bloc does not work with them right now.

Is there a Joomal theme that looks close to the default SMF theme?

I just installed Joomla and did the integration. I got everything to work perfectly so far.

I really want the 247 portal template, but the download URL is broken.

Are there any templates that are compatible with 1.1.1 final and also slip right into joomla. If not, can somebody tell me how to comment out the top header of an smf theme (the part with login / messages / welcome).

I've found that English Steel works great with the Joomla Theme Vista when wrapped.  Plus English Steel uses the default index.template.php so all modifications installed immediately appear without alteration.

English Steel:  http://themes.simplemachines.org/index.php?lemma=131

Joomla Vista:  http://www.augs-burg.de/joomla/download.php?file=go-vista1.2.zip

You can see things in action at http://mypclinuxos.com

I'm using Joomla 1.0.12, SMF 1.1.1

Bloc is now making themes that work in joomla, SMF (there is also a joomla version without header for your forum), and coppermine. (and TP too if you want). The first release of his is mesh, which is a darkish theme. For more info, see the Joomla/coppermine board at tinyportal.net

Hi Phil

I really like that theme too. I've given it a green makeover but I cant get it to wrap in my joomla site. It spills out into the side columns and throws the entire site out.

I went to the link you gave but couldnt see your notes on how you got it to work in the message you posted at joomlashack.

Can you tell me how you integrated it?

I have built a theme for my SMF forum based on the Joomlashack (http://www.joomlashack.com/partners/idevaffiliate.php?id=410) "Aqua" template. I think it turned out pretty well.

Mainly this site is and will be a central storage location for software distribution tips to get software out to your users computers. I think it will be helpful if your a Sysadmin with a large user base.

You can see it at Distribution Tips Forum (http://www.distributiontips.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,43/)

I have this and other Joomlashack themes available for download on my site. More will be added shortly

Title: Re: SMF and Joomla Themes/Templates

Ok, suppose I am not talking about Joomla. I just want to insert some HTML code to the SMF2 theme so that my code will be displayed at the top-most, I mean the very beginning of the SMF2 output.

How to do that?

I had studied the same method on Tikiwiki, I am glad to see that Tikiwiki has built-in support for this kind of request: there is an option just in its settings that I can insert my HTML code and those code will be at the upper-most of the frontend page.

There is one Mod for SMF2 named Global Headers and Footers, but it inserted my header code to under the SMF menu, NOT the real HEADER part.

I hope SMF2 will allow user to insert header code to make the theme close to other CMS the user may installed on the same website.

Thanks.

no, SMF2 does not change the templates that much.

You can do what this site does and do it all with layers...

I finally got this working by adding to the index.template.php file (SMF's theme), the html source of my joomla's header & menu.
