smf does not provide hosting or is affiliated with that forum, so therefore we can not upgrade the forum installed there. Upgrading SMF (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=3.0;sort=subject)

yes and smf does not provide upgrade services unless the user pays for a charter membership, but even that is limited in what we can do. all smf does is provide the forum software the rest is up to the admin of the forum to take care of.

Just want to make this sure - the Software is SMF, Simple Machines makes the software.
The site is using that software on their own servers, and under their own control.
Simple Machines has no way to update or customize someone elses forum.
The site admin, who has originally installed the forum, or is currently handling the forum administration,
is the one who can update or customize it as well.
