Hi,
I am using SMTP email setting for SMF 1.1.13. When new users register, they get a welcome email, but it seems that for some people (yahoo.com, yahoo.ca, rogers.com in particular) do not receive these emails. For people registering with these emails, I always get an email saying:
Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
[email protected] SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
host mx1.rog.mail.yahoo.com []IP: 421 4.7.1 [TS03] All messages from 67.212.70.178 will be permanently deferred; Retrying will NOT succeed. See http://postmaster.yahoo.com/421-ts03.html:
retry timeout exceeded
I think I lost some members because they requested a password reminder, but the reminder never gets to them.
I was using PHP before, but I heard that switching to SMTP can better help with my emails not going to the spam folder over time.
Please help!
Thanks!

A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 24 hours on the queue on mesa.az.linuxvilla.net.
The message identifier is: 1QSiwD-0006iw-3C
The subject of the message is: Welcome to Capital Escorts
The date of the message is: Sat, 04 Jun 2011 04:58:16 -0000
Another error that I get:
The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:
EMAIL
[email protected] Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
host mta5.am0.yahoodns.net [209.191.88.254]: 421 4.7.1 [TS03] All messages from 67.212.70.178 will be permanently deferred; Retrying will NOT succeed. See http://postmaster.yahoo.com/errors/421-ts03.html
No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for
some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message
remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up,
and when that happens, the message will be returned to you.
Filters on those mail servers are probably blocking your emails (can't imagine why (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thekrashsite.com%2Fpics%2Ffacepalm.gif&hash=eb6eaaf6d758386f3994677fedcb1367d2d9387f)).
that's weird... I can't imagine why they would be blocking my emails?
It works with gmail and hotmail accounts.

Not to be indelicate, but 'Capital Escorts' sounds like a call girl service, and some mail servers may be dumping it as such. The fact that they're blocking your IP would seem to support this theory.
I've had and I have the same problem, but spam is so vast that it knocked often innocent people in such a way
This part of the error "All messages from 67.212.70.178 will be permanently deferred; " quite clearly states that they've blocked ALL mail coming from that IP address. So if you think that is in error, you need to contact them to sort it out.
