Otsikko: problem with attachments filename
Kirjoitti: pgermain - kesäkuu 10, 2011, 06:19:34 IP
Hello

On SMF 1.1.13, i can't upload two files which have same name.

I can't find the option "encrypt attachments filenames"

Is there a way to do that with php code, and if so, the files which already are on the server will keep the right place ?

Is there an option about it in smf 2

thank a lot

Pierre

Hi, pgermain and welcome!

Actually, have a look in your attachments directory.

I think you'll find that the names are pretty meaningless, in there. ;)

No file extensions, either.

When you say "I can't upload two files which have same name.", do you mean in the same post?

Thank you for your response !

In the directory, files are with their names and extension, and i can't upload the same file either in the same message or in different message

i think that's attachments database don't accept the same filename twice....?

But is there a way to use the "encrypt files" method (i can't find this option) and if so, do you think i 'll loose all the files that are allready as attachments ?

Many thanks !

How did you look in the directory?

If you look using FTP, are they still actual filenames, with the extensions? If they are, I suspect that there's something wrong, because every SMF forum that I've ever seen has the attachments renamed to some gibberish with no extension.

i look with FTP...

Files before October 2009 are with name and extension, the others, in 2010 and 2011 are "encoded" without extension...

Ah...

You might get an answer, if you read that mod's support topic, then.

If it's not mentioned, maybe you could post, there.

To save a lot of typing, maybe link to this one?

Yeah, the real name will appear, there.

I just went to your forum and looked at the error logs.

You have 134 pages of them!

I'm thinking it might be wise to think about almost starting from scratch.
