Otsikko: 1.1.10 to SMF 2.0 Gold on new server
Kirjoitti: fasterthanyours - kesäkuu 12, 2011, 07:45:12 IP
I've got an old forum running 1.1.10 and I need to move it to a new server.

I'm not concerned with any of the modifications, because most of them don't exist anymore, nor work correctly.

I really just want the database because the forum is almost 10 years old and the data is invaluable to me.

What is the proper way to do this?

Hello there.

You can firstly move to new server and got your forum running there, and then proceed with upgrade.
You should download 2.0 large upgrade pack and upload it to your server, and overwrite files you have there. Then just run upgrade.php file and follow the steps in order to complete upgrade.
Please take a look at Upgrading SMF (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=3.0;sort=subject) doc.
Note that all your mods will be deleted, so you must find and install mods after upgrade is finished if you want.

Regards.

Read my sig, before you do ANYTHING!

I've seen some upgrades that are for such early versions fail.

You MIGHT need to upgrade to v1.1.13, first, if you get hassles.

Have a go. If it freaks, restore the backup, upgrade to v1.1.13, then go again.

Ain't php phun? ;)
