Title: Problem with spam...
Post by: rubix123 on June 14, 2011, 07:58:44 PM
I have been getting a lot of spam lately. Im using the latest SMF 2.0. Anyone know of any reCaptcha mod that is working with 2.0? Other suggestions would be appreciated. My registration anti spam setting right now is just a simple math problem.

try making the anti-spam questions more complex and specialized to your forum.

If you set 4 questions, ad the mod httpBL they will drop to nothing, but after doing that if you still have a few there is another one that is listed the the directions of httpBL that will stop the rest... NOTE: on the mod download page it doesn't say it is 2.0 final ready, but there has been several people load it on 2.0 final without any problems including me...

How do I make anti-spam questions? I run a Dutch forum - simply filtering by language would get rid of most spam.

Try: Admin > Configuration > Anti-Spam     You add your questions towards to bottom.

Hello, I'm new here and I am getting about 50 a day as well.  I see twig/al's response about Admin > Config > Anti-Spam, but under my Config I have Features and Options, Server Settings, Current Theme and Themes and Layout.  No Anti-Spam.

One more question, I've read a few posts about the mod httpBL, what is it and how can I get it?  Any help to reduce the spam accounts would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
-Ed

Your right it should be: admin > configuration > security and moderation > anti-spam  That should get you there, the question setup is toward the bottom. The httBL mod is in the customize section on the top menu of this forum.
