i dont wanna take risks so i want to ask.
im downloading my database which is about 147mb in size under mysql database. but each time i try to download, it only downloads 24mb. tried it 3 times, and got same thing.
is this normal?

im downloading my database
How are you doing that?
Have you tried CPanel (If you have it)>Files>Backups?
also should i put the forum under maintenance before upgrading, or the upgrader will do that, thanks
The upgrader give you the option, yes.
I don't bother, myself. ;)

i have backup wizard>>"back up database or whole forum" options
i tried but still downloading 24mb. or is the file compression the cause? thanks
file inside the compress file is 116mb as i open with winrar. it didnt show any message with regards ro file breakup
As it's archived, quite probably.
Try dearchiving it and see what size it is, then.
after dearchiving, i got 111mb
The thing is, if it dearchived OK, I believe that it's safe to assume that you have the whole thing.
Otherwise, dearchiving it would've failed. :)
You double-checked that it's the right one, I assume?
The reason I ask, is that mine shows that I have two, even though I only installed and use one.
thanks k@.
i also want to ask if database tables should be left untouched during upgrade...thanks
Which version are you upgrading from?
I don't believe that you have to do that, whichever version, though.
Personally, I've only upgraded to v2 from RC5 and my v1.1.14 forum's gonna stay at 1.1.14. ;)
i want to upgrade from version 2.0rc3 to rc5
What on Earth for?
SMF v2 has gone Final, now.

You'd have to be careful if doing that. As the mods you wish to delete may of edited files like language files, or template files.

if you are upgrading from 1.1.1* to 2.0 it is not as much of an issue as all the files are overrode by the upgrade anyway.
i upgraded from 2.0rc3 to 2.0 final
NB: all the mods are uninstalled and now shows only install-list files-delete
I've got to that stage with my forum.
I'm just gonna backup everything and install stuff, to see what happens.
