Hi folks,
Woke up to this error on my SMF this morning, can anyone help me understand why this suddenly appeared, as I can not access my integrated chat room and the php error sits at the top of my forum.
Warning: mt_rand() [function.mt-rand]: max(-400209200) is smaller than min(-400208880) in /home2/okanagan/public_html/poolchat/Forum/Sources/Subs.php on line 3692
Thanks in advance,
Cal
Hey Cal
Try ftp over a fresh Subs.php file over if u still have that version of SMF i think that will correct your problem let me know if that helps you any
Thanks for the idea, but still no joy!! .. I lost some of my custom toolbar, so reverted back to what I had.
I sent a ticket to HostMonster, so let's hope they can shed some light on the problem ... and more importantly for me, what caused it!!
Errors are bad enough, when you know you have been tweaking code, but twice as irritating, when you haven't done a thing (at least in 48hrs)
All the best,
Cal :)
The Plot Thickens!!!!!
HostMonster just replied to my ticket, saying that they couldn't replicate the error and that everything appeared fine. So ... off I trot to check things out, DARA!!! ALL IS WELL AGAIN???
So, nothing had been altered by myself or HM. I go into chat (integrated into our SMF) .. and say around 4-5 lines of text between myself and one of our members, bang!! chat locks up. On refreshing the page, the error re-appears at the top of the page.
Now, I am no expect by any means, but it feels like some database/php limit is being exceeded??
Still to get to the bottom of this.
Regards,
Cal
This is possibly the real problem- HostMonster
They are an overseller and cram way more accounts per server than should be. It limits and restricts the server resources, especially when many sites are active at once. They will also deny that there are any issues.
HostMonster's Response to the Issue:
Dear Customer,
This almost seems like some fundamental issues with the code in this version. The mt_rand function generates a min or maximum random string which is a function that works fine under php 5.2.17. My suggestion is to try upgrading or check for patches that fix this issue, or you might need to ask their support department for known issues related to this error. I did install the same version and was not getting this error on my test site, but it's possible that the newest 2.0 version may have fixed this problem.
