I know that uploading new ones to the default (or a diferent theme)/images/post whould get me the new ones but how to make them show up in the drop down menu for use is what I would like to know
what files to edit?
SMF 1.1.14
hmm... off the top of my head I do believe that any image put into the folder for post icons is read and displayed automatically. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe in SMF1 they also have to be .gif files. If that doesn't work post back and I'll take a look at the code and stuff.
I think there might be a setting to allow custom message icons you have to enable too. Sorry, but going from foggy memory on this feature that I rarely ever look at .lol
ok it is a .gif called checked.gif and is in default template/post where the other message icons seem to be. but it does not show in the listing of any theme---I put it in all themes just in case
Did you enable customize message icons?
yup sure do
After enabling custom message icons, you should see a place to edit and add new ones.
index.php?action=smileys;sa=editicons
thanks, I went to triple check and for some odd reason my custom message icons got unchecked. but they are checked now and I found where to add it.
lately it has been one thing or another...lol
