Otsikko: Wiped out my forum
Kirjoitti: nina-nina - kesäkuu 25, 2011, 10:04:45 AP
Last night, while I was working on my forum, I deleted it by mistake.  :-\  (version 1.1.14)

I checked on the cpanel and I can see the the forum folder is there, but I don't know how to get it back. I contacted my hosting company for help but they told me that I had to contact SMF.

Can anyone explain how can I get the forum back?

Thank you.

Sorry to hear about this. Does your host provide archived backups? I'd start there. What did you delete, too? A forum is made up of site files and a database.

Thank you for your prompt response.  I deleted the whole thing.  I had changed the forum directory to a few months ago. I saw that what I thought was the "old" forum was there so I just deleted it.  Actually, there were two links... one with the "new" extension and the 'old' extension.  They were there since the forum was put under the new directory.  I just deleted the link with the 'old' forum thinking that it was necessary.

so you still have your database? you are just missing your files? ask your host first if they can restore a backup of the files. if they can not then we can tell you how to connect a new install to your old database.

That's what I did. But, they told me to contact SMF or they would charge me. I came to SMF to see if it could be done without me having to pay but I will contact them and ask how much would be the charge.  Thank you for your prompt response.

Update: I am right now with my hosting company. Will post back if I need help... :)
