I would like to know how can I activate the feature so that whenever someone register a new account they need to activate their account by clicking on the link in the email,as I noticed many spam accounts on my forum and when I registered a test account noticed that its not asking for email verification link.

if i were you i would install an antibot bot because there are lazy people who doesnt like to activate their accounts that way, you could install a captcha or the are you a human mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=999).

the first option, choose the metod u want to use from the dropdown.
Thanks buddy for sure will try a mod,the one you posted is it the best one for spam?However whenever I join any forum,I always activated by clicking the link in the email so was thinking dont we have this option by default in smf as whenever I am changing the email its asking for the activation as I opted in the admin settings the same thing I wish to get @ first time registration and guess what I GOT IT in the reg center as you posted above.
I agree with you many people are lazy to activate their account but still I would love to activate the feature as incase they need help from the forum as its a tech forum they need to activate the account and they will for getting help in the forum for free moreover it will save a loads of spam members
Thankyou ElPlayer,buddy you saved a loads of time as busy with stuff these days and would have taken the time in searching the option as I am still newbie with smf and getting many spam members and dont have much time as if now to explore and search the settings
