I administer a site that has been around for a few years, and never updated since doing so once, and having monsterous trouble. Do you people expect me to have the same sort of issue if I now update to 2.0?

I use Bluehost, and their automatic updating app.

I would not suggest you to use any updater of hosting providers,better use upgrade package from simplemachines
