Otsikko: Not sure how to accomplish what i'm looking for
Kirjoitti: adetia - heinäkuu 12, 2011, 04:50:15 IP
I was able to replace the logo graphic using the one I wanted, however I'd like to be able to move the "greeting" or whatever it is called over so that it doesn't overlap the image, but darned if I can figure out exactly what I need to manipulate to do this, if I should be doing this in the index.template.php file or the css stuff.

I just installed 2.0 yesterday, and am using the Yabb SE Next Gen Theme.

Help?

:)

Attach your index.template.php.

Can't run that in YaBB SE on my 2.0 install, so I'm  doing this blind, but .....

In your index.template.php find this:

', empty($settings['site_slogan']) ? '' : '<div id="siteslogan" class="floatright">' . $settings['site_slogan'] . '</div>', '
<div class="user">';

// If the user is logged in, display stuff like their name, new messages, etc.

Change to this:

', empty($settings['site_slogan']) ? '' : '<div id="siteslogan" class="floatright">' . $settings['site_slogan'] . '</div>', '
<div class="user" style="float: right;">';

// If the user is logged in, display stuff like their name, new messages, etc.

If that doesn't work, I'll need your /css/index.css

First let me say thank you thank you for assisting me!

The change you suggested stopped the overlap, but, now its really far over to the right.
Is there some equivalent of float that would center it?  (noob question I guess), I did some research on float, and tried to play with some positioning but I couldn't seem to do anything but jam it over top the logo or put it back the way you suggested.

Attaching my updated files per your request...
what i'm hoping to accomplish is getting the greeting stuff just to the right of the logo portion of the graphic file.

There are several ways to position it.  If it's all the way right, you can just add a right margin to move it left as far as you like -

<div class="user" style="float: right; margin-right: 100px;">';

padding-right: should do the same thing, and you can also use position: absolute; top: 123px; left: 321px; to put it anywhere on the page.  Try the margin first.

Or maybe try using a percentage (%) in css instead of px.
