I'm soon to be leaving my current host, and have decided just to start over fresh with my new forum.
At the same time, there are some threads on my old forum that I would hate to lose. I don't really care about users and boards and all that; I have n intention of porting the whole thing, I just want to save about a dozen threads to read on my computer.
Is there a way to do this? I don't see 'download thread' natively, and haven't seen a mod for that. trying to save the page with Firefox results in trying to save index.php. Can someone tell me how to do this? I'd really rather not let those threads disappear.
there is no easy way to do this, the easiest way is just to move your install to the new server and use it there, if needed just take the database and start fresh with clean files there are no issues usually with doing this.
I suppose you could bring over the old database and manually prune out all the topics and boards you don't to keep, but that's a lot of work. If you delete all the members, I think their posts will show up as "guest". I wouldn't try to directly prune out all the unwanted posts from the .sql file, unless you're very familiar with the structure of the database -- too much chance of messing it up.
