Title: How to DISABLE SEARCH
Post by: Kootch on August 04, 2005, 11:19:41 AM
How do you disable the search function?  Our site has between 700 and 1000 concurrent users at a time the past few days and our dedicated server is exploding.  We`re trying to disable all features that are sucking up system resources as this should be a temporary spike in traffic.  I understand that disabling searches can help but I can`t find that option.

Any other tips?

It's a permission, so you just need to take it away.

Try 1.1 beta 3 with fulltext, that helps search performance a lot. Also are you using any InnoDB tables?

Before disabling the search function why not use FUSE BOX (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=19379.0) instead

IIRC, that mod is implemented in with 1.1.

Hmm... www.tmlfans.ca.  It's been quite some time since I cleaned up some of the past problems with that forum.  At least a year.... I've learned a few tricks since then ;).

Can you upload the attached file and give me a link to it?
