Goal
In the short time I've been here, I've posted a number of threads asking for support. I know. Pretty soon though, I'll start posting a few things that I think will help other SMF users, namely graphic packs and themes.
Could someone help me achieve the above? :]
take a look at http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2294
Have you even searched?
There is a mod called Tidy Child Boards which does what you want.
I use the Childboard dropdown myself which only has one file to be edited.

I have. "The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF."
Which version do you use? 1.1 or 2.0?
2.0
You can install Tidy Child Boards in 2.0, but iirc you have to emulate 2.0 RC3 ('Advanced' link in Package Manager) to run the installation..
Shame you forgot to mention it earlier.
Below the list of mods is an advance link.
Once you click the link you should see an emulate box I believe it is 2.0 RC3 you should type.
After you have installed the mod remember to change the box back to 2.0
Yeh... shame. Anyway, it didn't work.

I installed the package anyway and it resulted in.. nothing changing.
Have you checked the boards?
There may be a setting when you modify them.
If there is I can't see it. :s
All I can suggest is you have a look through the mods own topic.
Do you see the child board options in Admin -> Features and Options -> Layout?
From your screenshot, it appears you're missing a couple of core files.
@Krash
I forgot about that area of admin.
(Well it is 5:30am)
As for the Core theme files I have a few mods which edited that theme yet as I never use it I didn't bother with it.
No errors either in the log.
Does the package manager complete the installation correctly in default theme if core files are missing?
I don't see why not.
Never really looked.
Just installed/uninstalled it in 2.0 with RC3 emulation, and works fine. TCB can conflict with other mods, but will show an error when testing files prior to installation.
Tried it with the two core files missing. Throws an error, but installs/uninstalls successfully in default theme, so that's not the op's problem.
Figured it out. Thanks. :]
