Hi, so I have SMF 1.1.14, which I installed with fantastico.
Im working on a forum, but I have a issue. I want to have a sort of "mature" board. Because I know people will want to discuss things others may not. so I'm wondering, how do I set it, so only users I sort of approve can view this board?
I have been trying for the last hour to figure it out, but Im a fail. haha.
Thanks in advanced for any help! :D
You can set up membergroups with permission to view specific boards (Admin -> Membergroups -> Visible Boards), and configure boards to allow access to specific membergroups (Admin -> Boards -> Modify -> Allowed Groups).
Thanks!
But as far as i can see, membergroups seem to be all about posts, would it work if I only want to approve them to view this bored? Or can I maybe just edited certain users? Hm. :)
I think this is what I did for a similar purpose:
1. Add a board called 'Whatever you want'. In the 'Allowed Groups' list, untick all for the moment.
2. Add a new Membergroup called 'Whatever you want 2'. In 'Visible Boards' tick the new board you just created.
3. Select the individual members allowed access to the new board: Member Profile > Account Related Settings > Additional Membergroups > tick the newly created membergroup.
Good luck, it ain't too difficult.

The membergroup and board options will only allow approved membergroups to view specific boards. They are hidden from other membergroups - members outside the allowed groups don't see them at all.
