As an administrator, I set up a gmail address (Server Settings) so that the 100 bogus registrations per day do not come to my regular address using my blackberry and outlook.
The change did not take effect until I changed my email address in 'Profiles'.
This is related to changing webmaster address (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=340095.0)
Because I have all Forum related emails going separately to gmail now, I also will have to log on each day to see if there are new posts or new topics (some bogus to delete).
Is there a way have 2 email addresses -- one for the bogus registrations (I have given up accepting any new ones* and another for (the real deals) new posts or new topics?
People who really want to join (1 out of 500) email me separately and I manually take care of them.
Thanks,
sickofit
there is no way to have it set for more then one email address
also i removed your other post on this issue from another thread, please dont bump old threads in attempts to get more attention.
No Bumping intended it is just that it told me that it was 120 days old and noone would see it.
Also, when does the change take place as I am still receiving emails by bogus registrants to my old address?
it is sent to _your_ email account set in your profile not the one the forum sends from
Thanks,
Actually, I had 1 email address in Server Settings that everything is still going to it. I had a 2nd email in Profiles. Changed 1st to gmail in Server Settings 3 weeks ago. Changed the 2nd one to gmail in Profile an hour ago.
New Topic stuff went to 2nd email address and I would like that to continue but the 1st email address still gets all the bogus registrations even though you say the 'Profile' email address rules.
What am I doing wrong and if it takes, how long does it take to take effect?
it should take affect immediately
It isn't. How can I get this fixed?
check if you have any forwards set in your email
I do not.
no idea why it is not working as you want
Do you have registration set for 'email activation'?
By George, it was delayed. Just got my first email thru Gmail. Yey!
