Before I went out today, i removed the block on forum registration that i've had for a few months now, because of a huge influx of spam, and yes i currently have 2 ... 3 up-to-date spam blockers on.
I get home few hours later, and low and behold the first 2 new comments are spam!
Is there a way that i, as an admin person can set it, so i have to approve every post, just like i have on my wordpress blog?
1.1.1* does not come with post approval, 2.0 does.
i guess i need to update. If I do that, will i loose my work?
no you will not loose anything as long as you have a backup Upgrading SMF (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Upgrading)
Thanks for your help. I'm on elance at the moment. gonna hire someone to do it. it's a bit beyond me.
we do have a help wanted board here if you want someone that knows about smf to do the upgrade for you, or you can pay for a charter membership and a team member can do it for you.
Upgraded to 2.0. now all i need to know is; where's the option that allows the admin team to approve each and every post?
admin -> core features enable post moderation and set the permissions for the groups.
Sorry I'm totally lost. been searching 'rpund for 30 mins.
Admin> features and optiions and then??
i said core features not features and options.
Just getting used to the new 'drop down' menu over the 1.1.14 its done.. thanks ;)
it's either not owrking or i've chosen the wrong prmissions. the only people who can post without approval are the admin and moderators. However spam is still getting through :-\

you should open a new topic for your issue, as this thread no longer relates to your issue as it is in the 1.1.1* board.
Sorry!
